  • This episode marks the second time Daphne has been accused of witchcraft, following Renn Scare.
  • Velma admits that she has never read the book "Tom Sawyer".
  • The brand Scooby-Doo threatens the Demon of Salem with, when he and Shaggy are shoeing it, is "SD", in the exact design of Scooby-Doo's dog tag.

Miscellaneous[]

Cultural references[]

  • The title is a reference to the video game World of Warcraft.
  • The comment about Fred "goat staring later" is a reference to the book and film "The Men Who Stare At Goats" - which concerned the use of the paranormal.
  • The Salem Witch Trials was a real series of events in the town of Salem, Massachusetts in 1692 and 1693. Nineteen people were executed for being witches and another eleven were found guilty. A few hundred people were accused of witchcraft.

Animations mistakes and/or technical glitches[]

  • None known.

Inconsistencies/continuity errors and/or goofs/oddities[]

  • According to the mystery's explanation, Carl Baker is very agile and was a talented gymnast. However, earlier in the episode he is very clumsy - stumbling and dropping a stack of pies.
  • It's already clear that Freddy doesn't mind something happening to Shaggy and Scooby when they split up, as long as he and the girls have some 'rest time'.
  • The flag we see on the wall of the courthouse when Fred goads Thunder into following him looks like an American flag, but has only 8 stars (in a circle) and 10 stripes. No US flag has had that configuration.

Quotes[]

Shaggy: So, like, Salem has been witch-free for 400 years until the day we show up.
Scooby: Typical.

(Fred gasps in fright upon spotting a goat staring at him from a nearby window)
Velma: What is it, Fred?
Fred: (Pointing towards now-empty window) Goat.
Daphne: I don't see any goats.
Fred: (Checks window briefly) It was just there! Staring...
Velma: Right... maybe we should focus on the mystery at hand and worry about goat-staring afterwards.
(Shaggy and Scooby joins the gang after their run-in with the Demon)
Fred: What's going on? Did you see the goat?
Shaggy: The Demon of Salem attacked us! And I didn't see any goats. Scoob?
Scooby: Demon, check! Goat, uncheck.
Velma: Where's the Demon now?
Shaggy: Like, it was just here.
Fred: Yeah, sounds like a goat I know.

Daphne: Are you guys OK?
Shaggy: "Divide into two groups". Really Fred?
Fred: Hey, splitting up is essential when being chased by a monster. That way if one group doesn't make it, the other still has a chance to solve the mystery.
Scooby: Logical, yet sociopathic.

Shaggy: Like, I can't believe these people. They pounce on the free spirited woman, but they have no problem with the guy who can eat 20 pies at once and his talking dog! I mean, if anyone here was using magic it would be us.
(Crowd turns on Scooby and Shaggy, and they are tied to stakes next to Daphne)
Scooby-Doo: Pitchforks, check. Torches, check.
Shaggy: Like I'm sorry. Mouths are for eating not for talking. Mouths are for eating not for talking!

(The Gang is put on trial)
Mayor Stoughton: At last, we will finish what my ancestor, the great Lieutenant Governor William Stoughton began so long ago. Northrup, read the charges!
Northrup: You are hereby charged with witchcraft, conjurin' a demon, inhuman pie eatin', anthropomorphism - whatever that is - aidin' and abettin' witches and not readin' Tom Sawyer, according to new legislation.
