Wax Attacks! is the second and final story in Scooby-Doo #3, by DC Comics. It was preceded by The Truth.

Premise[]

Fred's Uncle Staxo runs a wax museum, but a singing Fire Ghost is destroying it.

Synopsis[]

Mystery Inc. visits Fred's uncle, Staxo's, wax museum, but witnesses a singing Fire Ghost attacking the museum. Staxo reveals that the ghost had been melting his wax figures, destroying them. With this, Mystery Inc. begins investigating the crime, beginning with the historical figures and later the rock-and-roll exhibits. They note that the fire ghost seems to only melt the rock-and-roll figures.

Suddenly, the ghost appears and chases Shaggy and Scooby into Staxo's workshop, containing the limbs and wigs. Velma notes that Staxo has strangely gone missing during the chaos. Meanwhile, Daphne recognizes the song the ghost is singing, which is Stay! by Project Mohole, one of the bands in the rock-and-roll exhibit. With this, they prepare a trap for the monster.

Shaggy disguises himself as a wax figure of Elvis Presley, and Daphne hides behind the figure of Lisa Mohole, Project Mohole's lead singer. She sings to lure the fire ghost into appearing, but suddenly Fred appears and extinguishes the Fire Ghost's flames with a fire extinguisher. Powerless, the monster is unmasked.

The Fire Ghost turned out to be Leslie Mohole, Lisa Mohole's sister. Leslie wrote the song Stay!, but left the group just before the song became famous, meaning Lisa became famous instead of her. Jealous of her sister's success, Leslie decided to destroy her wax figure at Staxo's wax museum. After Leslie is handed over to authorities, Staxo thanks Mystery Inc. for their help, planning to rebuild the melted exhibits.
