Violet Oberon was the only professional artist of any medium in Littlefield due to the lack of arts funding under the town's mayor, Perry Putnam.

Physical appearance[]

Oberon is an adult woman with long brown hair tied into a bun and bangs that hangs over her forehead. She wears a dark purple vest with green shoulder pads with a purple and black striped shirt, orange pants, pink fingerless gloves, and dark purple boots. She also has purple lipstick and pink-tinted glasses.

Personality[]

Oberon was an eccentric alternative artist, spanning a wide range of artistic mediums, including visual arts, music, and performing arts. Her art seemed to be themed around loneliness, were abstract and cynical in nature, and took a pessimistic tone. However, Velma criticized her art as being pretentious and heavy-handed, and believed that her supporters were uncultured and ignorant.

Oberon pretended to oppose Perry Putnam and encourage funding for fellow artists. However, she was later revealed to oppose those artists as they would compete with her. Oberon is aware that her art would not stand in the face of competition, so she attacked mayoral candidates who threatened Putnam's campaign in order to maintain her commercial monopoly over the town's art industry. Ultimately, she was driven by greed and ego, which drove her to violent crime.

Season two[]

As the only professional artist in Littlefield, Oberon held a commercial monopoly over the town's art industry. This was the result of the town's mayor, Perry Putnam's, policies which defunded the arts in the town. As such, in order to ensure Putnam's reelection, Oberon disguised herself as the ghost of the town's founder, Amos Littlefield, to sabotage any opposing candidates. She hoped that Putnam, once reelected, would veto a bill proposing to increase arts funding in Littlefield. Oberon successfully scared candidate Joe McGrath into withdrawing from the race.

Mystery Inc. visited Oberon's art installation at a town museum. There, they met both Putnam and McGrath, and Velma decided to run for mayor in McGrath's place. Oberon, playing the tuba at McGrath's withdrawal speech, attacked Velma at the rally, sabotaging her first speech. Velma lost public support for cowering to the ghost instead of confronting it. Velma later hosted a pancake social in an attempt to regain her trust, where she expected to encounter the ghost again. However, Oberon decided not to appear as the ghost, and Velma humiliated herself as she did not have a speech prepared.

Oberon unmasked.

When Velma challenged Putnam to a public debate, Oberon decided to attack the event. However, she was caught in a trap prepared by Mystery Inc. and unmasked for the public to see. She denied all of Velma's accusations, claiming her attacks were merely a performance piece, but the public, including Putnam, did not believe her and condemned her actions. She was handed over to authorities for her crimes.
