Early life[]
As a kid, she was best friends with Daphne Blake. The two of them were part of Mystery Incorporated, a group of kids who tried to solve mysteries. As their base of operations, they hid inside an old van.[1]
This all ended when Daphne rejected Velma, after the two of them witnessed Daphne's mom cheating on her dad and the family fell apart. They didn't mend their rift for years, and Daphne became popular at school, forming new friends and mocking Velma with them. Velma became increasingly isolated.[2]
