"Ugly" Jimmy, later renamed "Handsome" Jimmy, is a hillbilly of Scorpion Wells.

Physical appearance[]

Unlike his disfigured and hideous compatriots, Jimmy was tall, strongly-built and he was good-looking, which was not considered a good thing due to the town's inverted standards of beauty.

After taking severe injuries after falling from Mount Diabla, he became brutally disfigured, with a black eye and huge sores all over his face. He was then accepted by the community of Scorpion Wells for looking more like them and given the name "Handsome" Jimmy.

Personality[]

Before his fall, he was very self-conscious and shy. He considered himself to be hideous.

After his fall from the mountain, he became proud of his disfigurement. He considered himself to be handsome, because the beauty standards of Scorpion Wells really had an effect on him.

History[]

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated[]

Season two[]

He was referred to as "ugly" by the hillbillies, but was admired instantly by Daphne Blake as being a handsome and broad fellow. He accompanied the gang to help solve the mystery of Dark Lilith, but during a fight, he fell off the mountain. Later he was found horribly bruised and disfigured, now with a more typical appearance of a hillbilly which gained him acceptance from the others, renaming him "Handsome" Jimmy; Daphne admired him no more.[1]

Skipper Shelton mentioned that he traded a conquistador's helmet with Jimmy.[2]

Notes/trivia[]

  • The inversion of the usual standards for handsomeness echoes the Twilight Zone episode The Eye of the Beholder.
