The Real Villain is the ninth episode of the second season of Velma.

Premise[]

Velma's kidnapper is revealed to be Scrappy - created as part of Project SCOOBI. However, he explains that he was only trying to help catch the real murderer. The appearances of Victoria Jones are revealed not to be hallucinations, but a genuine ghost. She is bound to this world because she has not produced a son capable of running her business empire. And who exactly is Uncle Scoobi?

Synopsis[]

Velma wakes up in a cage in the kidnapper's lair. The kidnapper reveals himself to be Scrappy, a talking dog who was created by Project SCOOBI to spy on teenagers. He explains that, while he kidnapped Velma, he is not the true killer, as he was framed by Don for the murders. According to him, Don disapproved of Scrappy and attempted to coerce his coworkers into signing a petition to abandon the project. When they refused to sign the project, Don killed them one by one, framing Scrappy for the murder, and also attacked Velma in the graveyard. In order to gain Velma's trust, Scrappy sets Velma free from her cage.

As Velma is missing, numerous search parties begin searching for Velma, with William, Aman, and Don all competing to find her first. Fred, Daphne, Amber, and Norville search the forest together but do not find her. When they find Edna Perdue in the forest, Amber reveals she was hired by Perdue, giving her their location. Perdue explains that she hired Amber to determine whether or not Norville was being possessed by Victoria's ghost. Suddenly, they find Velma, ending their search. When she is treated for her injuries, Diya decides to accept William's proposal, seeing William's efforts to search for Velma.

Don decides to continue watching Aman, with several soldiers guarding him. Velma privately speaks with Scrappy and Daphne, creating a plan to isolate and capture Don for his crimes. Velma gets the idea of getting Aman and Sophie engaged so they can subdue Don at the bachelor party. Velma speaks with the couple in her home while Scrappy stays with Daphne for him to kill if Velma chose to betray him. Sophie, while reluctant to accept Aman's proposal, finally accepts after Velma agrees to a long list of conditions.

The bachelor party starts as planned, with Don attending the party unprotected by soldiers. However, Scrappy decides to betray Velma's original plan, revealing he is the killer, not Don. Tired of being abused by his creators with vacuum cleaners, Scrappy killed each one of them. Fortunately, Velma reveals she never trusted Scrappy and knew he was the killer. The waitresses use vacuum cleaners to corner Scrappy, forcing him to submit to authorities. Scrappy, however, vows that Uncle Scoobi will help him break out of prison.

Meanwhile, since the military intensively searched the asylum, Perdue goes to her old laboratory under Fred's mansion to rebuild her brain-transplanting machine. Fred, however, is notified that William got engaged with Diya, which causes Victoria's ghost to appear, furious. Victoria reveals that she possessed Norville so that she would be able to raise Fred to be mature and strong before moving on to the afterlife.

By Fred's suggestion, Victoria attempts to possess Amber so she could hug Fred. However, Amber is unable to be possessed, as her brain cannot handle being inhabited by both their own soul and Victoria's. Victoria instead resorts to attempting to possess Fred's body so she could live in his body. However, Fred finally stands up to her mother and resists, not allowing Victoria to possess her. Victoria, deeming this to be a sign of maturity, bids Fred farewell and moves on to the afterlife. However, she finds to her horror that, due to her immoral actions, she would be sent to hell. Victoria blames Fred for her situation before being dragged away by a demon into the pit of hell.
