Scoobypedia

The Old Cat and Mouse Game is the second part of the second episode of the first season of The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show.

Premise[]

Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy visit the Andes, where they meet an odd cat man and his feline companion. The cat man tricks them into falling into a pool, shrinking them into mouse-like sizes.

Synopsis[]

Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy ride a llama through the Andes mountains. However, after reaching a dead end, they find a palace nearby. Entering, they encounter a cat wizard that chases them around the palace. Eventually, they fall into a magic pool which shrinks them, allowing the wizard's cat to chase them like mice. The cat chases them up a tree but they escape by swinging on a vine and into a window.

The wizard and the cat follows them inside, where they find grapes on a desk. They fly away on a paper airplane, dropping grapes on the floor. The wizard chases them, but slips on the grapes and falls into the pool, shrinking him as well. The cat chases the wizard away, despite his pleas. Meanwhile, Shaggy, Scrappy, and Scooby escape on the llama, where the cold snow reverts them back to their normal sizes.

Miscellaneous[]

Animation mistakes and/or technical glitches[]

  • Scooby and Scrappy's dogtags should have their initials stylized in teal, but are prone to have the following mistakes (including being completely covered in teal or just empty):
    • When the guys return to normal size, Scooby's dog tag has no detail in the wide shot, while Scrappy's has no detail even in close-up.
  • At some points, the cat's front legs stand in the air.
  • The gang's paper plane reaches a few meters away from the door, and disappears.
  • When the gang goes back to their normal size, the paper plane shrinks until it disappears.

Inconsistencies/continuity errors and/or goofs/oddities[]

  • The palace is in the Andes, yet it is of Tibetan design, and is filled with Egyptian cat statues, as well as a live Siamese cat.
  • How long can a tree branch be?
  • Technically, the guys' hats should've shrunk too.
  • Scrappy only picked up two grapes, but all of a sudden, a lot more appear to be on the paper plane.
