Continuity

Notes/trivia

  • Three unknown scenes which will possibly appear in season two were shown in "The Mystery Machine's On Broadway", too.
  • This is the first musical episode of the Scooby-Doo series.

Miscellaneous

  • Disguises:
    • Scooby as a music conductor helping the Wolfman play a solo. Scooby's wig suggests he's impersonating Leopold Stokowski.

Cultural references

  • The title is based on the film High School Musical.
  • Christian Slater played a wolfman in a sketch when he hosted Saturday Night Live on October 26th, 1991.
  • Velma's dance moves during "I Suspected Christian Slater from the Start" duplicate those of the showgirl character Red in the Tex Avery-directed animated shorts Red Hot Riding Hood (1943) and Swing Shift Cinderella (1945).

Animation mistakes and/or technical glitches

Inconsistencies/continuity errors and/or goofs/oddities

  • The episode credits give the character's name as Timmy Thoms. The subtitles do the same. However, during the suspects song, Velma has spelled his surname "Toms" on the suspect list.
  • How could Simone be in the same middle school drama club as Kenan Thompson, who was born in 1978 and also the same high school year as Christian Slater who was born in 1969?

Quotes

Velma: (Singing)
I can't see without my glasses
But I see what to do
I can't see without my glasses
But I see every clue

Simone: He tied me up and put me in this! Now I hate him even more! This is not over, Slater!
