The Devil (Dog) You Say? is the first of two stories in Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? #108. It was followed by the reprint, Prisoner of the Ghost in the Iron Mask.

Premise[]

Some people call Mystery Inc - these people are trapped in a mansion in the moors and they can't go outside because of a devil dog lurking there! The gang needs to find out more about the history of the mansion to solve this mystery.

Synopsis[]

The gang goes to an old mansion in the moors. A man opens the door and tells the gang to come inside, quickly, because it's dangerous outside. The man shows them through the window that a devil dog is standing in the moors, howling. The gang meets Tom Katt, from Animal Control, Professor Rosetta Stone, a historian, and Madame Persona Nongrata, a psychic. These people are trapped in the mansion because of the Devil Dog. Rosetta and Persona argue about where the Devil Dog came from, then go to their guest rooms.

Wilson Gottrich III, the owner of the mansion, tells the gang that the people came to get rid of the Devil Dog, but ended up trapped in the mansion. He also tells them about his ancestor, "Black Jack" John Gottrich, a Pirate. Shaggy and Scooby try to get out through a doggie door, but the Devil Dog frightens them by putting its head in the doggie door. The gang finally get out through the window, and, while Daphne, Velma and Fred search for clues, Shaggy and Scooby go to the Mystery Machine to get snacks. The Devil Dog attacks Scooby there, and begins chasing him.

Scooby and the Devil Dog reach a dead end, and the Devil Dog falls in a hole. The Devil Dog is revealed to be a robot made by Rosetta Stone.
