The Crown Jewel of Boxing! is the tenth episode of season 2 of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, and the thirty-sixth overall.

Premise[]

As Mystery Inc. drives through Louisville, Kentucky, they land at the opening of a boxing museum by boxing champion Laila Ali. They investigate a robot from Fort Knox seeking to destroy the museum.

Synopsis[]

At Fort Knox in Kentucky, a robot suddenly malfunctions and becomes rogue, breaking out of the base. A scientist and soldier fear the threat the robot poses. Meanwhile, Mystery Inc. drives the Mystery Machine through the nearby city of Louisville, but they suddenly encounter the robot on the road. The robot punches the Mystery Machine, sending it crashing into a lamppost, and runs away. Mystery Inc. decides to investigate by following the robot's traces to a nearby boxing museum.

Mystery Inc. drives the robot away by activating the water sprinklers, damaging the robot's mechanisms. They then speak with the museum owner, celebrity boxer Laila Ali, who had planned the museum's opening in honour of her father, Muhammad Ali. They agree to collaborate to investigate the robot. They first speak with a real estate agent, Taylor Tadder, who wants to purchase the land and replace the boxing museum with a condo.

While Ali teaches Shaggy and Scooby to defend themselves from attackers, they meet a caterer angry with Ali for opening a kitchen in the boxing museum, losing him his customers. Fred, Daphne, and Velma repair the boxing museum while searching the crime scene. Daphne finds an employment contract for a military base, though the document is too waterlogged to discern a name. They also find a muddy footprint. After reuniting with Shaggy and Scooby, the robot suddenly appears and chases them.

To evade the robot, Mystery Inc. gets into an elevator and descends, but the robot severs the elevator's cables, causing it to fall deep into an underground tunnel. The robot soon follows them, though it briefly deactivates due to lost connection, proving it is being remotely operated by a human. The robot continues chasing them until it strikes a wall, causing the tunnel to collapse and forcing it to flee. After rescuing Scooby from the rubble, they find a coin dating from the French monarchy. Velma explains a related legend of King Louis XVI, whose valuable crown was buried in Louisville by his confidants shortly after his death. Scooby accidentally finds the crown while chasing a rat into a pile of rubble. With this, Mystery Inc. decides to use the crown as bait to attract the robot into a trap.

Laila Ali publicizes on television a boxing match in which the winner would be awarded the crown. Mystery Inc. and Ali prepare the trap at the museum, bringing Ali into the boxing ring. Suddenly, the robot appears to challenge her for the crown. Before the match begins, Velma secretly attaches a signal trapping chip to the robot. When the first round begins, the robot overpowers and pummels Ali, knocking her into the corner. However, before the second round, Shaggy and Scooby douse water on the robot, sabotaging its mechanism and impairing its motor functions. Once the second round begins, while Ali defeats the weakened robot, Velma uses the tracking chip to triangulate the operator's location. Finally, Shaggy and Scooby launch the robot into a locker, destroying it.

Velma reveals that the robot's operator is hiding inside the locker, opening it to reveal the caterer as the culprit. The caterer was searching for King Louis' crown, so he hijacked a robot from Fort Knox and used it to terrorize the boxing museum and scare potential witnesses away while he searched the area for the crown. The employment contract, belonging to the caterer, revealed that the caterer served the soldiers at Fort Knox, giving him access to the robot for him to hijack. After the caterer is handed over to authorities, the soldier and scientist arrives to collect the robot's parts, and Ali rewards Shaggy and Scooby for their efforts with a pizza.
