This article is for the Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase character. For other uses, see Tar Monster (disambiguation).

The Tar Monster is a recreation of the Tar Monster, made for Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase, made by Eric Staufer.

Physical appearance

Like his real-world counterpart, The Tar Monster is a big green-eyed cyclops-like creature made of brown tar. He sometimes has a black iris.

Personality

Despite being fully capable of fluid human speech, although quite mumbly likely due to his mouth being covered in melting tar, often talks in monstrous gibberish either out of lack of effort or simply trying to seem more intimidating. He does seem to have a habit of mumbling to himself. He was intent on doing his purpose which was guarding the box of Scooby Snacks only going after those who went after it. However, despite his goal the Tar Monster wasn't very hostile he goes after people who go after the box however he only becomes violent when he's angered,

Powers and abilities

  • Tar Body: His body is made of tar and he's always producing more. However, he does seem to have some kind of solid mass somewhere which is likely what his eye is connected to.

History

Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase

After Eric heard about the gang's many cases featuring mostly costumed crooks he decided to implement those stories for his game, Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase. He even adapted several monsters he heard about as hostel NPCs but unlike their real-world counterparts these monsters would be "real" and not people in costumes. One of these monsters was the Tar Monster, created to guard the final level's box of Scooby Snacks located at the arcade within CyberLand.

He was the third monster, along with Gator Ghoul, both the real Mystery Inc. and their cyber counterparts encountered when the real Fred accidentally bumped into him covering his back with tar. The gangs quickly figured out how real these monsters were. The gangs ran inside the park splitting up into pairs and, after being ordered to by the Phantom Virus, he began chasing after Shaggy and Cyber Shaggy. He quickly lost track of them at a high striker game and the Shaggys quickly appeared disguised as carnies. They invite him for a game and to show him how easy it is they slam a hammer on his foot before they run away with the Tar Monster following close behind. He was seen again when he snuck behind a cotton candy machine while Cyber Shaggy was giving both himself and the real Shaggy some cotton candy, and they found him when Cyber Shaggy accidentally over-scooped some of the Tar Monster's tar. They quickly threw the cone back at him, the cone landing on his head, before running into a soda stand. Once the Tar Monster approached the stand they sprayed orange and green soda at him causing him to fall into the cotton candy machine which quickly spat him out covering his entire body in cotton candy aside from his eye. The Shaggys walked over and considered eating the cotton candy before using some of it to cover the Tar Monster's eye.

Sometime after this, he grouped up with the level's other monsters and they were able to corner all the members of the cyber gang aside from Cyber Scooby. The Tar Monster, and the other monsters, despawned when the level was beaten.[1]
