Voice in other languages[]
If anyone wishes to make a table for the voice actors in different languages (like here for example), then do so here, and I'll add it into the proper page. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 16:13, October 2, 2014 (UTC)
Velma's hair in WNSD
I never thought of it at the time, but when I compared Velma from SDWAY with Velma from WNSD, her hair seemed paler than it was from the previous series. I suspect it was to make her seem older. --Aggression25 (talk) 04:06, August 20, 2015 (UTC)

Kate Micucci[]
I think we should add that she's taken over as Velma's voice as of 2016. ChipmunkRaccoon (talk) 09:47, October 17, 2016 (UTC)
- The jury's not done with Mindy. She's returning for something. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 14:26, October 17, 2016 (UTC)
- Kate Micucci voiced Velma in Scoobynatural. I think it should be mentioned in the article, since that's the original incarnation of her. --Gabo 200 (talk) 19:42, April 16, 2018 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, Micucci is now the main voice of Velma. The last time Mindy Cohn voiced her was for Lego Dimensions and the Scooby Lego pack for the platform was released back in 2015. I don't know if they are still sharing the role, but we should acknowledge that Kate Micucci is the new voice for Velma. Mariofan1955 (talk) 06:25, May 10, 2018 (UTC)
Well, Mindy Cohn didn't return. And her part of the entry should now state that she finished in 2013 with Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated - as far as TV series are concerned. Gatherer Hade (talk) 22:43, June 3, 2020 (UTC)
Additions to the "Personality" section[]
"Velma is the smartest person in the group, and has a fascination with mysteries (her younger sister Madelyn said that she was "born with a mystery book in her hand").
She is sharp-witted and sometimes sarcastic, especially in the earliest and the latest Scooby-Doo installments (a number of characters made references to her sarcasm and sense of humor). She also seems to love secrecy (like many other fictional detectives, she likes to keep her conclusions secret till the very end of the episode, probably deriving pleasure from baffling others), and have a bit of slyness in her character (she was the only gang member to actually perpetrate a hoax, albeit for a noble reason)."
Feel free to correct/change anything you find necessary. Jim Fruit (talk) 19:46, October 25, 2016 (UTC)
- I added both in. Some changes I made were making it in-universe and removing that she was the smartest in the group as that was already implied in the intro. Also, if you can find any scenes that might have her getting any pleasue from baffling others, I can put that in. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) 20:29, October 25, 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you! I think you could also add that she usually keeps her conclusions secret until the end of the investigation (as an example of "secrecy"). As for deriving pleasure from baffling others, I'll try to find something on this. --Jim Fruit (talk) 21:13, October 25, 2016 (UTC)

I've noticed an interesting detail: in at least two scenes of the original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! series, Velma goes barefoot by choice while Shaggy, Fred and Daphne do wear shoes. The first one is at the end of A Tiki Scare is No Fair where she is in a traditional Hawaii outfit; the second one is at the end of Jeepers, It's the Jaguaro! where the gang is at the carnival in the streets of Rio de Janeiro, and she doesn't wear shoes. Wonder if the creators implied that she likes to go barefoot? --Jim Fruit (talk) 19:34, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

Animal Crossing link[]
Could someone make a link to the Animal Crossing wiki from the article? Yellowlightning1996 23:12, January 30, 2019 (UTC)
Color of Velma's shoes[]
Velma's Mary Jane shoes are red, not black. ChipmunkRaccoon (talk) 02:39, October 23, 2019 (UTC)

1968 developmental art[]
I came across this interesting claim on IMDB in the notes for Mystery Incorporated at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1660055/trivia?item=tr2075680 and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. Not sure who added it or when it was added:
- In developing this series, producers Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone and producer/head writer Mitch Watson began with the original 1968-69 development art for Scooby Doo, Where Are You! (1969) by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, which included information about the Scooby-Doo characters' ages, parents, and home/school life that never made it onscreen in the original series.
- In Ruby and Spears' original series bible, Fred and Shaggy are each 17 years old, Daphne is 16, and Velma is 15. For the purposes of this series, the kids were made roughly the same age: 16-17 in season 1, and 17-18 in season 2.
Does anyone know if we have developmental art with that information? This is the first I'm hearing about Velma possibly being fifteen. Velma_Dinkley#Gallery is pretty sparse and I don't know if we have a more thorough breakdown of artwork pertaining to her somewhere?
A character bible from 1968 would be really interesting if it had crib notes that never get mentioned in the show itself. Tycio (talk) 00:56, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

As a followup, this ScreenRant article published 10 June 2023 by Charles Papadapolous, reiterates this claim:
- According to notes written by original creators Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, which is the most directly reliable source, Fred and Shaggy are both 17, Daphne is 16, and Velma is 15 years old. Scooby is meant to be 7. These were their ages in the first season of Scooby-Doo Where Are You? In the second season, they had all aged a year
I don't know if Charles actually had access to these notes or just parroted what he saw on IMDB. It's always hard to track down ideas like these, but if these notes exist we should have a copy of them scanned for the wiki's consultation.

The ages of the gang in the original series is pretty well known. Gatherer Hade (talk) 22:38, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
Coco Diablo and Status of Unwanted Suitors[]
Coco Diablo from Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! is missing from the romantic interests section. Will someone with edit access add her, please? ACelticRose (talk) 01:57, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
One more thing: do Gibby Norton and Ranger Knudsen really belong in the aforementioned section? She doesn't reciprocate their feelings, and the way they express their interests comes across as creepy. ACelticRose (talk) 08:07, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
A good point has been made: what's the difference between Gibby Norton/Ranger Knudsen and Coco Diablo? None of these characters have mutual attractions with Velma; the men express unreciprocated interest in Velma while Coco receives interest from Velma that's not explicitly reciprocated. If we're talking about romantic interests in relation to Velma, the difference would be Velma's feelings in each scenario. She's not interested in Gibby or Knudsen, but she is interested in Coco (quite overtly, as a matter of fact). Regardless of whether Gibby and Knudsen should remain in the romantic interests section, Coco should definitely be added. ACelticRose (talk) 03:34, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
ultimately, though there is no relationship as in all cases they are one sided. Maybe a separate heading for unreciprocated feelings could include all three. Gatherer Hade (talk) 22:14, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Velma's full name[]
In some occasion her full name was said to be "Velma Daisy Dinkley". I am not completely sure about that, but if this is correct, can someone with permissions add this?
Daisy was established in the Movie *Curse of the Lake Monster, not the cartoons.
This needs to be only listed on the Velma page for that movie’s continuity. Gatherer Hade (talk) 21:08, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
