The Sydney Opera House is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major landmark located in Sydney, Australia. Construction started in 1959 and it was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 20 October 1973. The design by Jørn Utzon was, as mentioned by Shaggy and Velma, intended to look like the sails on a ship.
