History[]

Scooby-Doo (DC Comics)[]

The swamp monster was the disguise of Mr. Hollander, who wanted to scare others away from the swamp surrounding his homestead as his treasure, his mother's second mansion, was hidden there (flooded under the swamp). The disguise may have been based on the stories from Hollander's brother, since as a child his brother told about a monster in the swamp. He was first seen attacking Hollander's butler, Roland, as he brought the dogs outside for breakfast. Despite being the culprit, Hollander reported the crime to Mystery Inc., providing them with a sketch of the monster.

While searching the swamp, Mystery Inc. spotted the monster, but could not pursue it as they had to bring a sick Velma back to the mansion bedroom to rest. However, later, the monster attacked Shaggy and Scooby in the kitchen. Suddenly, Velma entered and sneezed, startling the monster and making Hollander break character. He was unmasked, exposed for his crimes, and handed to authorities.
