Cass Elliot is initially trapped inside the factory by the Green Globs, but manages to get the attention of the gang, who go in to save her, locking themselves in, in the process. When they locate Cass, she explains that after recently purchasing the candy factory, the “floating green globs” started showing up and an odd grinding sound started to be heard there every night. This turns out to be a former employee and international gold swindler, who are grinding up gold and putting it into candy bars.
Throughout the mystery, many of the company’s products are revealed, including: licorice, candy canes, bubble gum, Sno Balls, jawbreakers, rock candy, popcorn, taffy, chocolate bunnies, cotton candy and, most notably, Cass Elliot's Golden Caramel Bar.
Fred states that the building has three floors, a tower and a basement. It also has an entire storage room of marshmallows.

- Although the building is already labeled "Sugar Plum Candy Company,” when she first meets the gang, Cass Elliot says she intends to change the name of the company to “Sugar Plum,” implying this wasn’t already the company’s name.
