As to be expected, the skeletons were a group of living human bones capable of making noise and walk around.
Personality[]
They were eerie individuals who despite being protective of their home from people exploring the secrets of the place, they also take enjoyment watching their victims go through something humiliating or them getting freaked out.

The skeletons were the residents of the Skeleton Canyon, a place located in the desert. The same place where the gang was planning to stay at and solve a mystery.
Throughout the gang's visit, they remained hidden spooking them with loud bowls or occasional skeletal laughter, but soon had the real kicker when it was enough to cause Scooby to try and run back to the Mystery Machine while still in Shaggy's sleeping bag, despite crawling very slowly. The rest of the gang was so creeped out by the noises they too ran back to the Mystery Machine and drove on out of there.
