This article is about Shaggy Rogers from the animated film SCOOB! For other incarnations, see Shaggy Rogers (disambiguation).

Norville "Shaggy" Rogers is a member of Mystery Inc., and the owner and best friend of Scooby-Doo, the dog mascot.

Physical appearance

Shaggy is a skinny, teenaged Caucasian male, with medium-length, dusty brown hair, and has a goatee. He wears a green V-neck shirt with white short-sleeved undershirt, brown bell-bottom pants, and black platforms.

As a child, he wears a green V-neck shirt, brown cargo shorts, and black sneakers with white laces and soles.

Personality

Shaggy is a nice person. He is a little shy, but his true personality shows once Scooby-Doo comes along. He enjoys food (a lot) and is very close to Scooby. On the first day, Shaggy buys Scooby a collar with his initials, SD.  This shows his dedication to his best friend.

History

Early life

As a child, Shaggy was essentially friendless, and convinced himself he liked the solitude. While talking to his imaginary friends he made out of the sand on the beach, he met a dog who had overheard his story and the two quickly became friends, bonding over Shaggy's love of unconventional sandwiches. One Halloween, two kids on skateboards throw Shaggy's candy inside of the Rigby house which is essentially haunted. Fred, Daphne, and Velma find them and head with them inside the house. While there, a so-called ghost starts chasing them around. They capture the ghost and he identifies as Mr. Rigby. They see all of his stolen goods and call the police. The police catch him and are called meddling kids for the first time and realize that they are good at solving mysteries and thus the start of Mystery Inc.

Notes/Trivia

  • Matthew Lillard was deeply saddened finding out through the internet, instead of being told directly by the studio, that Will Forte had been cast instead of him.[1] This is despite the fact that a few years before that, he had no expectations in being cast.
