This article is about the incarnation from the TV series Velma. For other incarnations, see Scrappy-Doo (disambiguation).

Scrappy-Doo was a super-soldier created by the United States military through Project SCOOBI in Crystal Cove. He eventually turned rogue and became a serial killer, with the operative Uncle Scoobi being his accomplice.

Physical appearance[]

Scrappy was a small male bipedal dog with brown fur, light yellow sclera, black eyes, black small claws, jagged white teeth, pink scaphas, and a black nose. His ears were pointed and slightly bent at the tip, and due to being a test subject, he had a decaying appearance and a surgical scar on the left side of his chest. He wore a blue-green collar with two tags, as well as six nipples arranged in two rows along his belly.

Personality[]

Despite being manmade, Scrappy had total free will and was not obedient to anyone's command. However, this allowed him to become even more sadistic and barbaric than his creators, mauling them to death by messily biting off their penises. Despite his cruelty being unparalleled, Scrappy still insisted that his actions were not his fault, as his evil stemmed from the abuse he endured from the scientists at Project SCOOBI. Growing deeply misanthropic, he killed several people as an act of revenge against humanity, later extending his cruelty to innocent wedding guests.

As he was designed to appeal to children, his creators designed him to have particular personality traits, having a "spunky personality" and a "funny wise-guy voice." As such, he had a more playful and whimsical personality than the colder and quieter Victoria Jones, though this by no means made him any less immoral. Scrappy also impulsively and involuntarily uttered catchphrases, such as "Scrappy-Dappy-Doo!" and "ta-ta-ta-ta-taaa!" as verbal tics.

Powers and abilities[]

  • Superhuman strength: Scrappy was very strong, as he could run while holding adult humans, despite his small size. He also flipped an entire bus on its side.
  • Invulnerability: Scrappy was, by design, invincible, meaning he could not be killed by weapons, being completely bulletproof and even surviving direct hit from a missile with minimal damage.

History[]

Early life[]

Scrappy-Doo was a super-soldier created by the United States Army as part of Project SCOOBI, meant to spy on those the military deemed "meddling kids." He was created using the research of Dr. Edna Perdue, as one of the undercover operatives, Sophie, saw her journals being read and took pictures of her notes.[1] However, when Scrappy faced consistent abuse at the hands of his creators, Scrappy began to kill the scientists working for Project SCOOBI.[2] When Scrappy killed Earl Cogburn by biting his penis off, the scientists saw the great danger he posed and attempted to kill him, but were unable to as he was designed to be invincible. The scientists abandoned the project, except for the elusive researcher only known as Uncle Scoobi (Sophie in disguise). Uncle Scoobi, bearing responsibility for the monster she created, sought to help Scrappy escape.[3]

Season two[]

After Cogburn was killed, Scrappy killed biology teacher Gavin Swendig[4], whose body was later found in his apartment.[5] He then targetted two hospital coroners, whose bodies were found on a pentagram at Crystal Cove High School.[5] Finally, he killed Father O'Rourke[6], whose body was thrown from an upper floor in front of the judge during a court trial.[7] Each time, Uncle Scoobi aided Scrappy by disposing of the corpses, sometimes framing people to confuse investigators.[3]

During a school field trip to Sacramento, Scrappy attacked the bus Velma was riding on, kidnapping her[1] and taking her to his lair. Scrappy attempted to prove his innocence to Velma, accusing Sergeant Don Gigisfather for the murders. Scrappy then collaborated with her and Daphne to plan an operation to capture Gigisfather at Nana's Nipples, a strip club. However, Velma instead used the plan as a sting operation to capture Scrappy, knowing he was the killer. Cornered by vacuum cleaners, his single weakness, Scrappy was forced to surrender to authorities, though he vowed Uncle Scoobi would break him out of prison.[2]

Uncle Scoobi worked with Perdue to help both of them escape, but Scrappy broke out of prison (killing the police sheriff, Merle Cogburn) and discovered that Perdue had betrayed him, and Uncle Scoobi had been captured and unmasked. Scrappy then carried out a massacre at a high-profile wedding between William Jones and Diya Dinkley, killing the board members of Jones Gentleman's Accessories and searching for Velma. He found Velma on the balcony and attacked her, fatally throwing her off a balcony, but was struck by a missile launched by the military. The missile explosion also caused a helicopter containing evacuating wedding guests to crash. Scrappy survived the strike and charged at the crash survivors to kill them, but was finally killed by Velma's ghost, who possessed his body.[3]
