Scooby on Ice! is the eighth episode of season 2 of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, and the thirty-fourth overall.
Premise[]
Daphne takes Mystery Inc. to the Austrian Alps to meet her coach for an ice skating competition, Tara Lipinski. However, the International Ice Games, which includes a disgruntled Simone who is barred from competing in her clown outfit, is being threatened by the Snow Devil!
Synopsis[]
Daphne brings Mystery Inc. to the Austrian Alps for an unknown reason, intending it to be a surprise. However, while Fred is driving, they encounter a snow monster on the road, who chases the vehicle into a snowbank. Though the vehicle becomes trapped, they are rescued by celebrity figure skater Tara Lapinski, who brings them to a nearby lodge and explains she is commentating a figure skating competition with Daphne being one of the contestants. At a nearby lodge, Mystery Inc. meets a disgruntled chef angry at tourists for disrespecting his culture, as well as the event organizer, Johann Stieber.
Mystery Inc. travels to the lake where Scooby and Shaggy learn to ice skate. They meet Simone, disqualified from competing for wearing a clown outfit. They also meet Harley Shivers, Daphne's rival who is unable to compete due to an injury. Finally, they encounter the snow monster once more, who chases them, but Lapinski subdues the monster, sending it crashing into the ground. However, the monster escapes as Mystery Inc. is confronted by a village elder, who identifies the monster as the Schneeteufel ("Snow Devil"), a legendary creature said to haunt the mountains.
Shaggy and Scooby skate on the ice, but accidentally carve a hole into the rink and fall below. They discover that the lake is completely hollow underneath the layer of ice. There, they find a pair of ice skates as well as a whirlpool with a platform in the center. Though they encounter the Snow Devil, they escape on the rising platform, though Velma writes on a coin and throws it into the whirlpool.
They find that the platform leads back to the surface. Having suspicions, Velma orders a shipment of water, which arrives promptly after. Having all the evidence needed to incriminate the culprit, they decide to set the trap, using the skates as bait.
Lapinski commences the skating competition, placing the skates in a lost-and-found box. Mystery Inc. almost immediately lures the monster into view, who takes the skates and attempts to escape. However, the members of Mystery Inc. attempt to lure the monster into the marked location, taking the skates out of the monster's hands and running around the lake. Though the initial trap fails as the monster overpowers all of Mystery Inc., Lapinski jumps onto the ice, battling the monster before burying it deep into the ice, trapping it. The section of ice containing the monster is then excavated and the monster is unmasked.
The Snow Devil turned out to be Stieber. Though Stieber retired as a hockey player to host the figure skating competition, he had much less respect for the sport, wanting to profit instead. So, he secretly drained the lake's water underneath the ice to sell to bottling companies, disguising himself as the Snow Devil to scare others away from discovering his operations. Velma found that one of the bottles of water she received contained her coin inside, proving that the water from the lake was being sold. When Mystery Inc. found Stieber's skates in the lake, Stieber sought to take the skates back to avoid being identified as the culprit. Nevertheless, he is handed over to authorities for his crimes, and the water he extracted is pumped back into the lake. The competition resumes, with Simone now being allowed to compete in her clown outfit.
