Premise[]

Mystery Inc. are about to face their toughest challenge yet when they're beamed into cyberspace and a crazy Phantom Virus is after them.

Synopsis[]

Mystery Inc. goes to visit their computer programmer friend Eric at the university he currently attends. They were excited to see the game featuring the gang. In the computer lab, Eric introduced his partner Bill, and his professor Dr. Kaufman. They had created a hyperenergy laser that could send digital objects into the real world and real-world objects into the digital world. They planned on entering it into the science fair but, Eric explained that the laser accidentally beamed the Phantom Virus into the real world. It wrecked the lab and attacked Eric before it began running loose in the university. Bill explained that the virus came from the Scooby game and went on to say that they should have used his baseball game instead. Fred told them they shouldn't worry and their on the case. Professor Kaufman hands the gang super magnets and explains that since the virus is made of electromagnetic energy, the super magnets would paralyze him. Fred, Daphne, and Velma go down to the basement looking for the Phantom Virus however, they encounter Officer Wembley instead who gets mad at them for being in a restricted area. They tried to explain they were looking for the Phantom Virus but he didn't believe so he took away their magnets. He believed them however when the Phantom Virus came in chasing Shaggy and Scooby-Doo. The gang ran after the virus until they rushed into the lab bumping into each other. Somebody in the shadows turned on the laser and it digitalized Mystery Inc..

They were transported inside Eric's computer specifically inside the Scooby game. They spawned in level one which took place on the moon and the gang was in astronaut suits. The gang quickly figured out what happened to them and where they were and became worried since the game was meant to feature scary creatures trying to stop them. Shaggy spotted the Phantom Virus joined by two mean-looking astronauts and Daphne figured the Phantom Virus must have gotten beamed into the game too. During a low gravity chase, Velma suggested that they may be able to find clues as to who created the Phantom Virus and Fred followed this up by explaining the rules of the game, which he heard from Eric, to complete each level they would need to find a box of Scooby Snacks. Shaggy quickly spotted the snacks by a moon base and Scooby found some rovers however, the villains also had their own rover. A rover chase ensued and at the last moment, Scooby grabbed the box of Scooby Snacks, and the gang was transported to the next level.

They were transported to level two taking place within ancient Rome. Fred talked about how the Colosseum hosted all kinds of events including feeding people to lions. The Phantom Virus appeared and introduced the level's enemies like a sports team including the "home team" the gladiator skeletons and their lion "mascot" who was in front of the box of Scooby Snacks. Fred quickly came up with a plan ordering Shaggy and Scooby to deal with the gladiators while the rest of them dealt with the lion. The cowardly duo quickly ran off in a chariot while Fred managed to trick the lion into attacking him and landing inside a nearby cage. Just as the gladiators were about to catch Scooby and Shaggy Fred grabbed the box of Scooby Snacks transporting the gang to the next level.

They were transported to level three taking place within a prehistoric jungle. When they arrived they were quickly attacked by the Phantom Virus riding a T-Rex. They managed to escape them and they began discussing where the box of Scooby Snacks is Daphne quickly deduces it's probably at the volcano. She wonders how they will get there but luckily Fred spots two woolly mammoths which they decide to ride. As they reach the volcano they spot a baby pterodactyl trapped under a boulder in its nest. Before anyone could do anything the Phantom Virus appeared again and they all scattered but, Scooby, determined to save the pterodactyl, rushed up and pushed the boulder off the pterodactyl's wing revaling the box of Scooby Snacks that was under it. He grabbed the box and the gang was transported just as the pterodactyl flew away to safety.

After beating seven more levels they arrived at the final level taking place within a city. Shaggy thinks their back home until Fred corrects him by reminding him the game has ten levels. Shaggy spotted a malt shop which the gang decided to go into. Inside they meet their cyber doppelgangers who are the main characters of this game. After they got introduced to each other the cyber gang decided to help the gang beat the level so they could go home and cyber Velma suggests they look for the box of Scooby Snacks at the boardwalk. When they arrive the Phantom Virus is there to greet them with some cyber replicas of Mystery Inc.'s old foes including the Creeper, Jaguaro, the Gator Ghoul, the Tar Monster, and Old Iron Face. Thinking they were people in costumes Scooby walked up and tried to rip off the Gator Ghoul's "mask" but he quickly found out how "real" these monsters are. After the Phantom Virus ordered the monsters to attack the gangs ran into the amusement park.

Both the real and cyber Shaggy are chased by the Tar Monster until they hide behind a test your strength game. They pretended to run the game until they hit the Tar Monster in the foot with a hammer before they ran away while the creature screamed hopping up and down in pain. At the fun house, both the real and cyber Daphne were fleeing the Creeper. The real Daphne came up with a plan remembering most fun houses have trapdoors and she uses one to deal with the Creeper, but cyber Daphne figures they should run since the trapdoor wouldn't hold the Creeper for long. Meanwhile, both the real and cyber Fred tried escaping the Gator Ghoul by jumping onto a roller coaster but the Gator Ghoul followed their lead. The real Fred quickly made a plan to escape and the two Freds jumped off the roller coaster and onto the Moon Bounce. Both the real and cyber Velma were hiding in the wax museum. While exploring they discovered Old Iron Face posing as a wax figure but the Velmas scared accidentally knocked him into a vat of boiling wax before they quickly escaped. The duo of the real and cyber Scooby hid from Jaguaro on the merry-go-round but, the beast quickly found them after they both sneezed. After they ran around the ride a couple of times the Scoobys jumped off and Scooby turned the control switch onto its fastest setting. The ride spun rapidly and the Jaguaro was flown off the ride.

Both gangs gathered up outside the arcade and began planning ways to deal with the Phantom Virus. Shaggy remembers he has the super magnet that Professor Kaufman gave him and when he pulled it out putting the cyber gang into a state similar to being hypnotized. The gang was sure the magnet would work and figured the Phantom Virus was waiting for them inside the arcade. Inside the arcade, they quickly found the Scooby Snacks on the arcade cabinet for the Scooby game however, before they could grab it the Phantom Virus appeared and began tossing all sorts of things at them. Shaggy struggled to reach the virus so he tossed the magnet to Fred once he offered to do it instead. Fred bravely approached the virus and he managed to put the virus into a hypnotized state. Scooby was about to move to grab the box of Scooby Snacks however, Fred tripped on a ball falling on his back, dropping the magnet, and the Phantom Virus returned to normal. The gang retreated but, suddenly "Scooby" appeared and began taunting the Phantom Virus who retorted by firing energy bolts at him. The gang thought Scooby went crazy until Fred figured out that "Scooby" was really cyber Scooby distracting the virus so the real Scooby could grab the snacks. The Scoobys' plan worked perfectly and the gang finished the game.

Back at the lab, the laser turned on beaming the gang back into the real world where all the people encountered at the university were waiting for them. The gang says they believed they figured out who created the Phantom Virus noting all the clues they found such as, the Phantom Virus said "Play ball" on the moon level, and in the jungle, he said "How's this for a big hitter, and finally they vaguely recall the Phantom Virus mentioned something about the major league at the amusement park. Eric was a bit confused only figuring out the Phantom Virus liked baseball and Velma says he's right and then she accused Bill of being the culprit. He tried to escape but the door was locked and he was quickly caught by Officer Wembley. When asked by Professor Kaufman why he did it, disappointed his best student did it, Bill confessed saying he did it because he chose Eric's game over his and if the Phantom Virus ruined the Scooby game his baseball game could have won the prize. Bill then finally said "And it would have worked too..." and the gang finished his sentence by saying the famous meddling kids line. Later, Eric booted up the game on his laptop and the gang was able to say goodbye to their cyber counterparts. Quickly Shaggy began typing summoning some Scooby Snacks to feed to cyber Shaggy, and after some witty banter they all laughed as Scooby cheered his catchphrase "Scooby-Dooby-Doo!"
