Synopsis[]

Opening[]

In the level select area, Scooby and Shaggy are excited to have a game starring them. Suddenly a virus appears proclaiming it spread his evil virus all over the game and they'll never get past the monsters he unleashed. The duo becomes frightened and then the virus adds they can run but they'll never escape and this is his game now. The Phantom Virus leaves just as Daphne, Velma and Fred walk over noticing how scared the two are. Velma notices her handheld communication system is going berserk like it's been zapped by some kind of virus. Shaggy is reminded that the virus said it was spreading a virus all over the game and tells the others. Fred examines Velma's communion system noticing it's working again and seeing a message in her inbox reading "I challenge you to play this game, you'll lose it every time. The Phantom Virus always wins, success it will be mine. Fred states this sounds like a job for Mystery Inc. but, Daphne wonders how will they capture the Phantom Virus. Fred makes a plan they'll split up he'll look for a trap with Daphne, Velma will stay there to determine the exact location of the Phantom Virus, and Scooby and Shaggy will go into the game itself, and if they find the virus get it to follow them back here so they can catch him. The duo tries to sneak off but they're quickly spotted by Fred, and end up being convinced to do the job by Velma, after some haggling, who offers them a box of Scooby Snacks to do it which they gladly accept. She gives them a handheld communion system saying they can use it to talk to each other. Fred notices some of the levels are locked and the only door that's opened leads to Japan. Velma tells the duo to start there while she tries to get the other doors to open. Daphne then notices this must be a "retro" single-player game, and Fred simply states that Shaggy and Scooby will need to take turns. Fred and Daphne go off to look for a trap and Fred wishes everyone good luck before they run off.

Ending[]

After Scooby beats the final leaves he's plopped back into the level select area running away in terror. Velma notices that Fred and Daphne aren't back with the trap and wonders what they should do. The Phantom Virus appears and says he never expected them to be such good players but even if they might have beaten his monsters this game is not over. Suddenly Fred and Daphne interrupt his speech telling him his game is definitely over before Fred shoots some kind of beam out of the handheld communication system at the Phantom Virus seemingly destroying him in a violent explosion. Fred then asks Shaggy and Scooby if they're ok and they simply wonder where did the Phantom Virus go. Fred then showed the wireless communion system. Daphne and Fred explain they looked all over for a trap until they remembered the communion system had anti-virus software, and Velma adds in saying she always knew it would come in handy. Shaggy hopes if the Phantom Virus is gone for good and Daphne reassures him saying he would be pretty stupid to come back. Fred wonders if Shaggy and Scooby still wanna be in a video game and they answer yes and everyone laughs.
