Sal is the semi-retired owner of a a pizzer and a business partner of Dino D'Onofrioia.
Physical appearance[]
Sal is a balding large white man with a large five-o'clock shadow and a hairy chest. He wears a dirty, oily gray undershirt and a pizza sauce stained white apron, gray pants and black shoes.
Personality[]
Sal appeared to be a passionate pizzeria owner, desperate for Mystery Inc.'s help as a rival and a monster threatened to shut down his restaurant. He said his rival, Dino D'Onofrio, was less serious about his profession, using canned ingredients. However, he was later revealed to be exhausted after years of making pizzas, wanting to retire to Napoli. While he disagreed with D'Onofrio's cooking practices, he admitted D'Onofrio was hardworking. No longer wanting to compete with him, he attacked his own business, wanting Mystery Inc. to let him close. He speaks in an Italian restaurant.

Early life[]
Sal was born in Napoli in southern Italy, before immigrating to the United States where he owned a pizzeria.
Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? (DC Comics)[]
Mystery Inc. visited Sal's pizzeria, but Sal told them that a rivalling pizzeria, Dino D'Onofrio's restaurant, had been stealing his customers. According to him, D'Onofrio had been copying all of his recipes, but with canned ingredients instead of fresh ones. He also told them about a pizza monster that had been terrorizing his kitchen. However, unbeknownst to Mystery Inc., Sal had been disguising himself as the pizza monster, no longer wanting to compete against D'Onofrio and wanting an excuse to retire. He decorated his costume with canned mushrooms he picked from D'Onofrio's pizzas. However, Mystery Inc. offered to run the pizzeria temporarily as they investigated the monster.

Sal unmasked.
As the monster, Sal attacked Shaggy and Scooby just before they opened the restaurant. He left behind a mushroom coming from a can that he used to decorate his costume. Mystery Inc. therefore suspected D'Onofrio, so Fred, Daphne, and Velma investigated D'Onofrio's pizzeria. However, while they were gone, Sal attempted to attack Shaggy and Scooby as the monster again, but spilled a bucket of pizza sauce and slipped, no longer able to get up. Shaggy and Scooby called Fred's group back to the scene to confront Sal.
After Sal confessed to attacking his own business, he struck a deal with D'Onofrio's pizzeria, working together as a business. While D'Onofrio managed takeout orders, Sal's place remained open as a sit-down restaurant. As part of the deal, Sal insisted D'Onofrio stop using canned ingredients, only using fresh ones, and he would spend half the year on vacation in Italy.
