The diary was owned by Sheriff Rufus Carmichael. It told of all his involvement in setting up Dapper Jack Rogers as a thief and outlaw.

The diary was originally contained within a crate at the Museum and Bait Shop in Sorghum City. However, it was later stolen by either Rafe or Kyle.
Scooby-Doo! Shaggy's Showdown[]
The diary was discovered in the secret compartment containing Kyle's Dapper Jack costume and props. When Velma Dinkley opened up the book, there laid a business card for Black Rattler Management. Velma then read aloud the entries relating to the truth behind Jack Rogers and how Rufus Carmichael framed him for several crimes.
