History[]
Early life[]
He first started his criminal career as a henchman working for Professor Milo under the name Wade Magny during Batman's first year. He and fellow henchman, Leo Scarlett were working on an untested vortex machine with Milo, when Batman arrived and attempted to stop Milo, which led to Leo's seemingly death at the hands of the vortex, while Nygma and Milo were arrested. Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold[]
The Riddler was robbing the Gotham City Bank with his henchmen, Catwoman and Killer Croc, when they intercepted by Batman, Aquaman and Question. During the fight, Question was knocked aside by Catwoman, and Riddler, posing as one of his thugs, disguised himself as Question, while the fake Riddler was sent to Arkham Asylum.
After confronting the Crimson Cloak at a chemical warehouse]], Batman and Mystery Inc. confronted "Riddler" in his cell at Arkham. After listening to few riddles, Batman and the gang found a few clues leading to the events of the night Leo Scarlett was killed, which led them being chased by Harvey Bullock and the other Mystery Analysts of Gotham members, and Batman's other enemies, but the Caped Crusader and the Gang escaped back to the Batcave.
After learning that the Crimson Cloak was Clayface all along, Batman deduced the Question's identity as Riddler, the "Riddler" at Arkham was a Clayface decay, and Riddler used Clayface to impersonate and frame the Gang for the thefts. Before he could be taken into custody with Clayface, however, the Riddler escaped back into the lab. He reactivated the teleporter and prepared to use the vortex's power as a superweapon to destroy Gotham, but was knocked out by the Question. The vortex grew out of control, but at the same time a human shape began to manifest in it. Working together, Mystery Inc. and the super heroes reversed the device's polarity, allowing Batman and Scooby to drag the figure free of the vortex before the machine self-destructed. The figure was revealed to be Leo Scarlett, who was not disintegrated by the vortex but instead caught in an interdimensional void, and was reunited with his father.
