Ranger Mark was a forest ranger.
Physical appearance[]
Ranger Mark is a middle-aged Caucasian male with a slim build, dark brown hair, and a matching moustache. When not dressed as a Viking ghost, he wears a ranger uniform consisting of a khaki, short-sleeved dress shirt, dark pants and a brown hat with a lighter band. He also wears a brown belt and his shirt has two badges sewn onto it: a gold crest on his chest and one with a bear on his right sleeve. His ranger equipment includes a torch on his belt and a radio microphone. He also wears a watch.
Personality[]
Ranger Mark initially presented himself as a stickler for what he called "natural law," appearing unannounced several times to punish Mystery Inc. for breaking minor rules. While some of these rules were to protect the forest, some were seemingly arbitrary, such as playing music he does not approve of. He frequently threatened to take them to "forest jail" (detain them at the ranger station), a threat he eventually carried out.
However, his sense of justice was eventually revealed to be a facade; he not only accepted a bribery from illegal loggers which threatened the forest, but he also committed violent crimes himself to protect his criminal operations. Though he maintained authority in the forest, he illegally withheld excavation permits from archaeologists. Ultimately, he was a corrupt authority figure driven by greed who abused his position to aid criminals.
History[]
Be Cool, Scooby-Doo![]
Season one[]
Ranger Mark accepted a bribe from Donald and Edith to allow them to secretly and illegally log in the forest. However, when three archaeologists received a permit to excavate Viking runes on the site, Mark, Donald and Edith disguised themselves as Viking ghosts in an attempt to scare them away, preventing them from interfering with their logging operation. Mark threw away their excavation permit to prevent them from digging on the site. While Donald and Edith posed as birdwatchers, Mark gave citations to campers for arbitrary rules, in hopes they would leave.

Ranger Mark unmasked.
Mark was first seen inspecting Mystery Inc.'s camp, giving them various citations for violating his rules. Later, when Mystery Inc. escaped a Viking ghost attack, Mark detained them at the "forest jail" (ranger station). While incarcerated, Mystery Inc. found the excavation permit in the trash, proving Mark's involvement with the crime. After escaping with the help of a bear, Mystery Inc. captured the three Viking ghosts and exposed Mark, Donald, and Edith for their crimes. They were handed over to authorities and the excavation permit was finally granted to the archaeologists.
