Princess Velmonia was the princess of Athens, daughter of King Ladon, and a member of the gang of teen mystery-solvers in Ancient Greece. She was the Greek version of Velma Dinkley.

Physical appearance[]

Velmonia looked almost identical to Velma, being a bespectacled, brown-haired female in her late teens, but she wore a blue and white Greek-styled dress. Velmonia also wore a gold crown with gold beads, gold earrings and gold glow-rings.

Personality[]

Princess Velmonia was an intelligent young woman who was somewhat unsure of herself, but had a strong sense of duty to Athens. Despite not being attracted to Prince Shlemielius, she was prepared to marry him for her city's best interests. Her servant, Daphne, did not approve of Velmonia's choice, stating that she should have individual agency over her choices and not feel pressured to marry for her city's sake. However, Velmonia felt pressure to make the sacrifice, and declined to run away when Daphne suggested it.

As Daphne helped Velmonia capture Arachne, Velmonia acknowledged Daphne's intelligence and wisdom. She saw Daphne as an equal.

History[]

Early life[]

To form an alliance between the cities of Athens and Antagonos, King Ladon arranged Velmonia into a wedding with the prince of Antagonos, Shlemielius. The alliance would have been strategic for Athens because they city had a weak military, and Antagonos had military strength while lacking Athens' economy. Velmonia was hesitant to marry, as she was not attracted to Shlemielius, and Daphne suggested she run away to avoid the marriage. However, Velmonia resolved to marry, feeling it was her duty to the city.

However, Arachne, a spider monster, began attacking the palace. To investigate the attacks, Velmonia formed an investigative group with Daphne, philosopher Shagrates, hunter Fredricos, and Oracle Scoobymus. However, kings Ladon and Alexandros believed the gods disapproved of the marriage, both agreed to end the wedding and the alliance. However, Velma's group captured Arachne using Ladon's palace security traps, and exposed Shlemielius as the mastermind of the attacks. He ordered his servant, Aeslop, to pose as Arachne and stop the wedding so he could invade and conquer Athens. Alexandros condemned Shlemielius' actions and ordered the guards to seize him.
