Shaggy Rogers checked it out of the Coolsville Public Library and then lost it in a hole, buried beneath Scooby-Doo's dog bone collection. Incidentally, the library had closed down afterwards, so he wouldn't have been able to return it, anyway.

It had become a rare book, which Bernice Binder wanted to get, so she dressed up as the Ghost of Mrs. Shusham, the old librarian. It was then dug up by Scooby, and Bernice was unmasked and arrested. What became of the book remained a mystery.
