Dr. Phineus Phibes is the main antagonist of Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! He is an evil scientist obsessed with becoming immortal and taking over the world; whichever comes first.
Physical appearance[]
Phibes is a man with an outrageous blond comb-over hairdo and sharp teeth. He wears a tan uniform with a stiff collar and shoulder pads, black heeled boots and one black glove on his right hand. He also wears yellowed half-moon glasses and has a metal stump which can open up into several different tools in the place where his left hand once was.
Dr Phibes has a large, often wrinkled forehead, thick black eyebrows and a sharp, pointed nose. Many of his physical traits (going bald, having sharp teeth, a missing left hand) are the result of an electrical energy experiment gone wrong in his youth.
Personality[]
He is hot-tempered, ignorant and arrogant towards his agents (mostly 1, 2, and 3) and techies, Ricky and Mark. As time progressed, he became more and more high strung from the combination of his henchmen's idiocy and the repeated interference of the dog and hippie boy.
Dr Phibes is notably insecure about his appearance.
In addition, given that it wasn't until much, much later that he discovered that his nemesis, Dr. Albert Shaggleford, has been hiding in plain sight under his nose the whole time, it can be suggested that he isn't very observant and is very-much short-sighted.
Powers and abilities[]
Dr. Phibes can use his prosthetic hand as a laser cannon, fan, and possibly as a lightning rod. Dr Phibes is also seen gesturing with his metal fingers.
History[]
Early life[]
In his youth, Phibes conducted a highly dangerous experiment with electricity in order to achieve his dream of immortality, which failed and cost him his left hand (he added a prosthetic that seemed to function as a high-tech Swiss Army knife) and made him a living lightning rod by negatively ionising him -- hence, he seldom ventures outdoors, because his condition will quickly cause storm clouds to gather regardless of the weather, which causes him to get struck by lightning.[1]
As of season 1 episode 12 "Big Trouble", Dr Phibes has been struck by lightning 87 times (twice in the buttocks).
