Philip Hartman was a Canadian-American actor, comedian, writer, and graphic artist. He was a cast member of Saturday Night Live, and provided the voices of Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz in the animated series The Simpsons (starring Dan Castellaneta). He also co-wrote the screenplay to Paul Reubens' film Pee-wee's Big Adventure (also starring E.G. Daily).
Hartmann died of a gunshot wound in a homicide in 1998, at the age of 49.
