After Hanna Barbera and Western Publishing parted ways in the 1970's, while Charlton got the Hanna Barbera license to publish comic books, Ottenheimer Publishers were one of the companies to get the license to publish children's books. They published Hanna Barbera books in many form factors, but the novel shaped books were one of the most prolific.

Notes[]

  • Nearly every Hanna Barbera book published by Ottenheimer Publishers lists Horace J. Elias as the author or doesn't list an author.
  • Horace J. Elias felt the need to explain away Scooby-Doo's talking as not real.
  • Instead of the usual throw away line from every episode of the cartoon explaining that's someone's friend or relative invited Scooby and the gang to the place, all but two of the Scooby-Doo books in this series have Daphne's father send them on the trip.
  • Most of the books refer to Daphne's father as Mr. Blake. One calls him Jonathan Blake.
