One Minute Mysteries! is the sixteenth episode of season 1 of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?
Premise[]
Shaggy and Scooby try to find some time to eat with their pal Barry Allen, also known as the Flash, but a plot is being hatched to force the Flash to reveal his true identity to the world.
Synopsis[]
Shaggy and Scooby eat at a diner with their friend, Barry Allen, unaware that he is a superhero known as the Flash. However, their meal is interrupted by a phone call from Mystery Inc., requiring Shaggy and Scooby's assistance in capturing the Miner Forty-Niner. So, while they go to the mine to act as the monster's bait for the trap, Allen becomes the Flash to aid them. While the trap initially fails, the Flash appears and positions the monster into the trap. After unmasking the Miner Forty-Niner as Hank and sending him to Iron Heights Penitentiary, the Flash is thanked for his help and returns to the diner with Shaggy and Scooby.
Though Allen attempts to resume his meal, Shaggy and Scooby are summoned again, this time to capture the ghost of Captain Cutler. Once again, Allen becomes the Flash to help Mystery Inc. easily capture the ghost and expose Captain Cutler as the perpetrator. On many separate occasions, the Flash would assist Mystery Inc. in capturing various monsters,
Fred, Velma and Daphne become annoyed by his help, as his tendency to capture the monster with super speed interferes with their typical mystery-solving practices. So, on their next investigation involving a Creeper, Fred asks the Flash to not use his speed ability, instead walking at a normal, human pace. Although he attempts to comply with his request, the Flash struggles to control his habits. When the Creeper appears and chases them, the Flash involuntarily resorts to using supersonic speed. During the trapping process, the Flash, unable to resist his urges, pushes the creeper into the trap using super speed and unmasks the monster as Mr. Carswell.
The Flash takes Shaggy and Scooby back to Madrid for eating, but while they are gone, Fred, Velma and Daphne are kidnapped by a giant teddy bear. When they return, they find a note taped to Carswell's head. They learn about the kidnapping, and the note contains a cryptic clue leading to an old toy factory in Joy Street. Upon travelling to and entering the factory, they encounter the teddy bear via screen. The bear reveals that Fred, Velma, and Daphne have been separated and each placed in a room filled with exploding teddy bears; the bears have been rigged so that the Flash only has time to save one person. Alternatively, the Flash can reveal his identity to the public, and in exchange all three will be saved.
Shaggy and Scooby decide to disguise themselves as the Flash to confront the teddy bear. Meanwhile, the Flash eats Scooby Snacks for energy, allowing him to use his superhuman speed. Realizing Shaggy and Scooby's attempts to trick him, the bear detonates the explosives. However, as the Scooby Snacks allow him to run even faster than before, the Flash successfully rescues Daphne, Velma and Fred, taking each of them to safety outside the factory. He also rescues Shaggy and Scooby just before the entire building is destroyed. Being caught in the explosion, the teddy bear is launched into the air and into Flash's arms.
The bear turned out to be the Trickster, a villain who wore a second mask of the Joker underneath his bear in an attempt to fool Mystery Inc. The Trickster wanted to determine the Flash's identity and expose him to the public. Watching his every move, when he discovered that Shaggy and Scooby were his companions, he created the teddy bear disguise and kidnapped Fred, Velma and Daphne to force him to reveal his identity. Similar to the previous monsters, the Flash brings the Trickster to Iron Heights Penitentiary, then brings Shaggy and Scooby back to the diner to eat. Though he almost compromises his identity by leaving his mask on as Barry Allen, Shaggy and Scooby do not notice Allen's resemblance to the superhero and dismiss it.

Cast[]
Continuity[]
- Shaggy refers to the Spooky Space Kook by name - something no one did in the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode of the same name.
Notes/Trivia[]
- Shaggy announces the celebrity guest in the title card.
- Simone, originally from Quit Clowning!, briefly appears as one of the villains the Flash unmasks.
- Shaggy and Scooby telling Barry Allen he looks nothing like the Flash, even though he forgot to take off his mask, recalls countless instances where people fail to recognize superheroes out of costume, even though it may appear obvious to the viewer.
Miscellaneous[]
- Disguises: Shaggy and Scooby-Doo as miners; Shaggy and Scooby-Doo as the Flash; the Trickster as the Joker.
- Clues: A note containing a mysterious note.
- Traps: A minecart leading into a cage (Miner Forty-Niner), a pulley system designed to drop a haystack on the creeper.
Cultural references[]
- Barry Allen (the Flash) and the Trickster are both characters from DC Comics.
- The Flash captures several monsters from the 1969 Scooby-Doo, Where are You? series. These monsters include:
- Miner Forty-Niner from Mine Your Own Business
- the ghost of Captain Cutler from A Clue for Scooby-Doo
- the Spooky Space Kook from the episode of the same name
- the Creeper from Jeepers, It's the Creeper
- the Snow Ghost from That's Snow Ghost
- the ghost of Redbeard from Go Away Ghost Ship
- the Black Knight from What a Night for a Knight
- the Witch Doctor from Decoy for a Dognapper
- Charlie the Robot from Foul Play in Funland
- Pazzo the Ghost Clown, who appeared in Quit Clowning!, is among the monsters.
- Simone, who also appeared in Quit Clowning!, is among the many criminals caught by the Flash.
Animation mistakes and/or technical glitches[]
- Fred’s gag disappears after he is rescued.
- While the Flash travels across various places to capture monsters, he captures Pazzo the Ghost Clown and the ghost of Redbeard in the same location.
- Pazzo the Ghost Clown, one of the monsters, lacks its signature bluish glow.
Inconsistencies/continuity errors and/or goofs/oddities[]
- The Flash carries Hank to Iron Heights inside a cage, but when they reach the prison, the cage disappears.
- The design of the creeper's mask changes between scenes.
- When the Flash rescues Velma, her hair is windswept, but in the direction the Flash was carrying her, instead of behind her.
- The Flash carries the Trickster to Iron Heights in his teddy bear costume, but when they arrive at the prison, the Trickster is not in costume.
- Charlie the Robot is among the monsters in Iron Heights, despite it not being one of the monsters caught by the Flash.
- It is also illogical for it to be in prison, being a non-living robot.
- Mr. Carswell is among the criminals seen in Iron Heights, even though the Flash was never shown bringing him to the prison.
