This article is about the character in the Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? episode Fear of the Fire Beast!. For other uses, see Old man (disambiguation).

The old man lives in Menfi, Sicily.

Physical appearance[]

The old man is an elderly, thin, and balding Italian male with white hair on the sides of his head and sunspots on his forehead. He wears a yellow collared shirt under a red vest and a brown jacket. He also wears a pair of brown pants held up by a brown belt.

Personality[]

The old man is primarily driven by vengeance, holding a grudge against Steve Buscemi for the misdeeds of his grandfather even after several decades. Believing in a "debt of honour," he is strangely dogmatic in his pursuit of revenge, wishing harm on Buscemi even after he offered to resolve the issue by paying the debt. However, at the same time, he had a slight fear of Buscemi, believing him to be a criminal gangster because of his appearances in his films. Like the other citizens of Menfi, he speaks in an Italian accent.

History[]

Early history[]

The old man lived in the Sicilian comune of Menfi, where his profession is unknown. In 1935, he lent money to the grandfather of Steve Buscemi, which was used to pay for his boat ticket to America. However, when Buscemi's grandfather arrived, he never received back the money he was owed. He would hold a grudge against the entire Buscemi Family, believing they had a "debt of honour," and his hatred would extend to Steve Buscemi.

Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?[]

Season one[]

When Buscemi travelled to Menfi to meet his cousins, the old man confronted him in the street. Despite Buscemi offering to pay the money his grandfather failed to pay, the old man doggedly refused to accept the payment, placing a curse on him. Due to his hatred, Mystery Inc. deemed him suspicious and listed him as a potential suspect for the crime. However, he was later found innocent after they incriminated Buscemi's cousin, Nana, as the Fire Monster of Mount Etna.
