No Bones About It! is the second and final story in Scooby-Doo #13 by DC Comics. It was preceded by Welcome to Monsterville.
Premise[]
Scooby-Doo and Shaggy catch a fossil thief while searching a museum for a ghost.
Synopsis[]
Mystery Inc. visits a museum, observing the various exhibits and meeting Dr. Bailie, Velma's advisor from her high school paleontology club. Bailie explains her security guards have reported seeing a ghost at night, scaring them away from the night shifts, though strangely no items have gone missing. Mystery Inc. spends the night at the museum to patrol the museum, hoping to capture the ghost. Once the museum closes, they split up and search for clues.
Fred, Daphne, and Velma search the upper floor, disguising themselves as the exhibits hoping to blend in. Meanwhile, Shaggy and Scooby go downstairs to the basement to look for the cafeteria. There, Scooby encounters a white man he believes is the ghost, which scares them away. Reuniting with Fred's group, they return to the basement, following a new trail of footprints to a bone workshop. The white man appears, mistaking them for ghosts, and confesses his crimes, terrified.
As the police arrive to arrest the culprit, he is identified as Byron Stout, a teaching assistant who had been stealing fossils and replacing them with plaster casts. He snuck in the museum at night and accidentally covered himself with white plaster, but guards mistook him for a ghost. However, Stout was unaware he was the "ghost" the guards reported, so he thought the ghost was real.
