The Nightmare Ghost was the disguise of an unnamed cafeteria lady.
Physical appearance[]
The Nightmare Ghost is a very tall monster, being just over twice as tall as an average human. Given its name, it is described as a ghost, but it is not clear who it is the ghost of, so it could be more accurately described as a generic evil spirit. It is a very slender ghost with light-blue skin and pointed fingers. It has very minimal facial features, having a wide mouth with skin-like appendages on its sides, a grey tongue, and in the place of its eyes are two silver coins with the face of a balding man stamped on them. It wears a simple, dark-blue garment with tattered edges, short sleeves, and a hood.
Personality[]
The nightmare ghost is a hostile monster that aims to deter its victims away from the Max Fielding Psychic University. Not only does it chase its victims, it has also been shown to trap them in dangerous positions, sealing windows and doors to prevent them from escaping. It does not speak, rather making a loud, moan-like roar. It also occasionally displays some poltergeist-like behaviour, manipulating items and machines. Lastly, it seems to have a slight affinity for ice and snow, making use of snow-making machines to fill the indoor areas with snow.
Skills and abilities[]
- Prediction: The Nightmare Ghost appears to have some psychic abilities, able to predict Mystery Inc.'s movements in the near future and prevent them from escaping. Though not confirmed, it is likely that the perpetrator uses real psychic abilities, as the perpetrator, an unnamed cafeteria lady, has graduated from the psychic university.
- Telekinesis: The Nightmare Ghost has the ability to manipulate doors and windows, closing them abruptly. This ability is not explained.
History[]
Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?[]
Season one[]
The unnamed cafeteria lady at the Max Fielding Psychic University was one of the heirs listed in the will of the school's founder, Maximillian Fielding. She wanted to inherit the school so she could transform the property into a ski resort. However, according to Fielding's will, the school was not permitted to close if there were any students remaining. So, in an attempt to force the school to close, she used the Nightmare Ghost disguise to scare away its students. The Nightmare Ghost was first seen after television host and psychic student Whoopi Goldberg conducted a seance, so it appeared as though Goldberg accidentally summoned the monster.

The cafeteria lady unmasked.
The Nightmare Ghost then encountered Mystery Inc. in the entrance hall, prompting them to investigate. Throughout their investigations, the Nightmare Ghost attempted to fill the university with snow with the use of snow-making machines. However, Mystery Inc. lured the monster into a trap, using snow-making machines to freeze the monster in a layer of ice. The cafeteria lady was exposed and subsequently handed to authorities for her crimes.
