Naughty or Ice is the nineteenth episode of season 2 of Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!, and the forty-fifth overall.
Premise[]
The gang go to a fancy ice hotel co-owned by Daphne's family, where an ice man thaws out and goes on a rampage.
Synopsis[]
At an ice hotel at night, two workers are moving a frozen bird and admire all the ice age creatures in the building. They then start making ice jokes with one of the archaeologists joking about a frozen Ice Man. While they are laughing the Ice Man's eyes look directly at them. The archaeologists then notice a big vault that contains an old and precious piece of stone jewelry. The Ice Man suddenly starts to break out of the ice and the archaeologists notice the floor is wet. They then turn to see the Iceman gone and then see the Ice Man himself, who attacks them.
It's daytime and the gang arrives at the Ice Hotel. Daphne is giving the gang a tour of the hotel, explaining that every year it gets redesigned. Fred asks why Daphne's family owns the hotel which Daphne explains that they just own stock in it. Velma then arrives in a big winter coat and ice tools in order to face her nemesis water. As they go on Shaggy and Scooby begin to talk about how people get their tongues stuck to frozen polls which they later try to do. Meanwhile, Fred and Velma state that they should visit their rooms and check out the ice exhibit when they then notice Daphne up to something. Then Shaggy and Scooby cry for help after getting their tongues stuck to one of the ice polls. A woman named Lisa arrives and helps get their tongues unstuck with a blow dryer. Fred asks if Lisa is the bellhop when the hotel co-owner, Ms. Anja, arrives and explains how a scientist found a frozen Ice Man and that it thawed out and went on a rampage. Fred assures Ms. Anja that they will find the Ice Man but Daphne starts acting strange again and leaves by ascending a rope. Scooby and Shaggy get their tongues stuck again.
The gang arrives at their room which is made of ice. Fred states that they should split up and look for clues then wonders where Daphne is. Shaggy states that Daphne is going to find somewhere warm. Velma looks at the brochure and finds that the only warm place in the hotel is the steam room, which Shaggy and Scooby decide to visit. In the steam room, Shaggy and Scooby are eating hot dogs when they see the Ice Man in the room with them. They all run out, go to their lockers to get their stuff, then continue running. They escape the Ice Man by hiding behind an ice pole, on which they get their tongues stuck yet again. Fred and Velma enter the exhibit where they encounter Daphne dressed like a thief. Shaggy and Scooby then arrive at the exhibit claiming that they found the Ice Man,who then arrives and attacks the gang.
The Ice Man chases the gang until they become separated, and then chases Shaggy and Scooby. They escape him by disguising themselves as speech instructors, and then attempt to teach the Ice Man to speak. After many tries, he finally gets it right, only to realize Scooby and Shaggy have escaped. Shaggy and Scooby meet up with Fred and Velma after getting their tongues stuck on the stairs yet again, once more released by Lisa. The gang then notices a shadowy figure through the ice who is revealed to be Dr. Vantee the anthropologist who found the Ice Man. Velma asks him what the Ice Man wants, but Dr. Vantee says he doesn't know, but speculates that because he found the Ice Man in Europe along with a 10,000-year-old stone necklace the Ice Man may want it back. After Dr. Vantee leaves Daphne reappears on a bungee cord and suggests they check out the storage area where the Ice Man first got free.
In the storage area, Velma finds a laser pen and accidentally cuts a frozen hunting spear in half. Fred then steps on a device that traps the gang in suspended animation. Daphne reveals that the device Fred stepped on was one of her diversion devices and the laser pen is hers. Fred then demands to know what Daphne is doing when a bomb goes off opening the vault. The Ice Man then arrives and chases them, ending with the gang crashing into the vault. Ms. Anja arrives and accuses the gang of stealing the precious item in the vault and sends them to ice jail.
In ice jail, Fred demands that Daphne tells him what is doing on. Daphne reveals that she was breaking into the vault to steal back her pendant. The ice age jewelry Dr. Vantee mentioned was found on an expedition funded by her great grandmother Mimi Blake who gave it to Daphne for her 10th birthday. She treasured the pendant and kept it locked in her room for safekeeping. But Daphne's mother lent it to the hotel without her permission, assuring Daphne it would be safe. So Daphne tried to steal it back and prove to her mother it wasn't safe. She never told the gang because she didn't want to drag them into her mess. Daphne apologizes to the gang for her actions and states that she couldn't have known an Iceman would ruin her plan. Fred then realizes it was the other way around, which is the answer to the mystery. Fred and Daphne get the gang out of ice jail by tempting Velma into releasing her hatred of water on the ice wall. Velma's cathartic violence creates a long tunnel out of ice jail.
The gang goes back to the vault where Daphne picks the safe and gets her necklace. The Ice Man arrives and chases the gang through the hotel. Daphne traps the Iceman by using her laser cutter to drop a chandelier from the ceiling and fall on top of him. The Ice Man is arrested and unmasked as Ms. Anja, as it turns out Daphne wasn't the only one trying to steal her pendant.
Being an owner of an ice hotel and an expert on all things frozen, Ms. Anja was able to fool everyone into believing that the Ice Man broke out of the ice. She used the Ice Man to scare guests away long enough to try and steal Daphne's pendant, which she blamed on the Ice Man. Dr. Vantee himself even suggested that the necklace could have been made by the Ice Man 35,000 years ago but not knowing enough about anthropology Ms. Anja made some mistakes which were clues that Ice Man wasn't what he seemed to be. For instance, the Ice Man was curiously unafraid of his natural enemies like the saber-toothed tigers. Ms. Anja's motive was that she hated co-owning the ice hotel with the Blakes, so she was planning on selling the necklace in order to buy their interest in the hotel. This proved Daphne was right and her pendant was never safe here to begin with, but luckily Daphne was executing a heist of her own. Dr. Vantee then asks where his real Ice Man is, and Fred reveals that it was hidden in not the most subtle of places - behind its presentation curtain. Daphne then promises to tell Fred the next time she does something like this, to which Fred furiously yells that there should be no next time.
