She was a concerned woman who didn't want people getting involved or hurt when something was making people's vehicles go missing. However, it was revealed that she hated traffic a lot and was willing to assist her husband with a fake monster and to prevent people from finding them in their barn.

Mrs. Cooper, along with her husband were guests at the Apple Cider Mill, she wasn't involved with any conversation until the place become covered in mist, and the vehicle she and her husband used went missing. While he was filing a police report, she approached Mystery Inc. for a short talk, telling Shaggy and Scooby what happened since it was their first time meeting her, Velma reassures that they'll find the car, but she responds telling them not to get involved and she didn't want them getting hurt. Mrs. Cooper shortly left afterwards when Fred and Shaggy replied that they could handle it and aren't in danger.
However, it later turned out that she had some involvement with the Mist Monster, she and Mr. Cooper hated traffic to the point that they made up the creature to scare people away. They'd set up fog machines around town to block out their horse carriage, which had two headlights installed on the top to give the appearance that it's the monsters eyes. She would stay behind at their home to guard the barn and prevent anyone from trespassing on the property.
Mr. Cooper was caught by the gang and she was later visited by authorities and taken in too.

- There's no illustration of the character in the book.
- It was clearly implied she was at her farm when Fred and the girls trespassed, but the narration states it was a man as in it was her husband despite the fact he was later revealed to be the one going around town as the Mist Monster.
