Mindy Kaling is an actress and comedian who first came to attention for her role as Kelly Kapoor in the US version of The Office and her star vehicle The Mindy Project. She has lent her voice to a number of roles, including the movies Despicable Me, Wreck-It Ralph, and Inside Out (starring Lewis Black).

While promoting the Disney+ original "Monsters at Work (2021)" on "Late Night with Seth Meyers", Mindy Kaling claimed that she was the first "female monster in series." This was false, as female monsters appeared years earlier in both Monsters Inc (2001) and Monsters University (2013).
