  • I was wondering if you could respond to this thread. I have it pretty clear what I want to do, but I'm just not getting any feedback.

  • I've been thinking about this for a while, and I'd like to make a Twitter account (and more) for Scoobypedia. I've been trying to think of a good time, and I don't think there's going to any exactly perfect time to do it, now's a perfect time as any.

    • OK...what exactly do you want it to be used for?

    • Promote stuff we do on here (hopefully draw better attention, and not as bad or worse). Hope following people will help out Scoobypedia (as in more info). I done a pretty good job with my own account getting answers, but I'm hoping this account will do some good to.

I have actually done it, and it's been up for a bit more than an hour (but I can always delete it if you wish). Roger Eschbacher has been the only one to follow back so far.

I don't get it. It's kinda like he was trying to solve a problem that didn't exist. :/

    • Generally I'm known as DBS for short, or Scooby (though considering this wiki that could get confusing), the Ravenclaw is simply a carryover from when I was on the Harry Potter wiki, thinking every wiki needed a new account- generally i'm the full version of DBS everywhere else on the internet (YT, twitter etc.). If even the abbreviation makes you uncomfortable though (may I ask why? Is it a religious reason?), I suppose it'll have to do. Or "Jake".

    • I'll answer you on the last thread we were talking on, because I accidently posted it here. But thanks for undestanding.

  • I plan to upload screenshots I've taken on this wiki. I've already posted one, but I tagged it for deletion. That's because I wasn't sure how to copyright it. I don't want to get in trouble for posting images of what I'm passionate about.

To make the image, I play a video that I've bought online and hit the 'PrtSc' button. Then I go onto MS Paint and cut off the access.

    How do I copyright it?

      Loading editor
    • Essentially, on the image's page (will be named e.g. File:name.png) write a brief description of what the image is and where you got it from (e.g. "this is a photo of the Mytery Machine as it appears in What a Night for a Knight. Image from Scooby Doo Where Are You: Complete Seasons 1 & 2"

      Then under a heading "licensing" add this;

This file is copyrighted. The individual who uploaded this work and first used it in an article, and subsequent persons who place it into articles, assert that this qualifies as fair use of the material under United States copyright law.

this is done by typing "fairuse" surrounded by { { and  } } (no spaces).

You can use another page for reference, e.g. http://scoobydoo.wikia.com/wiki/File:Balloon_in_shape_of_Scooby%27s_head.png

You may find it easier to edit in Source mode (next to "visual" at the top of the editor)

  • I think it may just be you and me in charge now, so I think we should make sure we're on the same level as much as we can be. (And even if we're not on our own, I still think it's a good idea, I just have to be forward about asking you things.)

    • No offense to the name you've chosen, but is it okay if I call you Ravenclaw, because I feel uncomfortable using "Devil" as apart of someone's name.

    • In short, yes, it is for religious reasons (which at times makes it difficult in certain areas of this wiki, because I don't buy certain things that makes it impossible for me to cover, but I'm working around that. Maybe it even makes me a little hypocritical, but we all make decisions on what we think is acceptable.)

  • We’re reaching out to a few of our top communities, hoping to get you on board with the migration to the new infobox markup. And we have tools to help!

    Why we’re doing this

Simply put: Most current infobox structure translates very poorly to mobile experiences, and indeed any device that doesn’t use desktop-style displays. On desktops and laptops, they often look amazing. The problem is that Wikia’s traffic is trending mobile.

There is an important graph from our forum post about infoboxes a couple weeks back, and I want to share it here as well:

Mobile is the future. Not just for Wikia, but for the web as a whole. Take a look at the recent trends and future growth predictions for mobile traffic - it's staggering.

We partnered with the Wikia community to create this new markup to make sure that your hard work can be displayed on mobile devices (as well as any future technologies) easily and without any new coding conventions. It’ll take some effort up front, to be sure, but we’re here to help, and the work you put in now will pay for itself tenfold in the future.

Tools we’ve designed to ease the process

We’ve enabled two new features on your community. One is a tool for migrating the “old” infobox code to the new markup. It identifies templates on your wikia that look like infobox templates and places a box on the right rail of the template page. When you click the “Generate draft markup” button in this box, it opens a new tab containing a draft of your infobox using the new markup.

The second is a new feature on Special:Insights that will highlight which infoboxes on your wikia have not been migrated to the new infobox markup. It’s fairly intuitive - you can click on the infobox title link itself to see the old markup, or simply click the “Convert!” button on the right, which performs the same action as the “Generate draft markup” button.

This is our help page for the new markup. I’ll help get things rolling by converting a template or two as an example if you’d like me to, as well as watching this forum post for any questions.

  • Hey Ravenclaw. I could use some help. I messed up a bit on the page. I was trying to add a voice roles section with Josh's Scooby related roles and instead created a Voice roles category and have no idea how to undo it. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

    • I sorted it.

    • Haha ^ beat me to it, thanks for alerting us anyway. For future reference, click on the "edit" drop down then "History"  and then "undo" next to the edit. But hopefully there won't be a next time.

Also, welcome to Scoobypedia. An automated message isn't quite the same. :)
