Melvin Snug is the former city manager of Roswell, New Mexico. In order to attract tourists to the city, he collaborated with Pueblo Biff Twobirds and Flo Grange to fabricate an alien hoax.

Physical appearance[]

Snug is a balding, middle-aged Caucasian male with black hair on the sides of his head, a toothbrush mustache, and glasses with round eyes. He wears a formal attire consisting of a grey suit with notch lapels over a white collared shirt and a black necktie, as well as grey pants and grey sneakers.

Personality[]

Snug initially appeared to be a friendly, well-meaning man who merely took advantage of an existing alien sighting for profit. He worked to make the city as friendly as possible to tourists, peacefully resolving a conflict between two vendors. He also portrayed himself as a weak, danger-prone victim, faking his own kidnapping. However, he was later revealed to be a fraud who fabricated a hoax and terrorized the citizens just to bring tourists to the city. When caught, he attempted to evade responsibility, attempting to betray his partners in crime and claim they kidnapped him.

History[]

Scooby-Doo (DC Comics)[]

As the city manager of Roswell, Snug organized a celebration of the Roswell Incident, a weather balloon crash in 1949 which conspiracy theorists claim was actually an alien spacecraft. Collaborating with street vendors Flo Grange and Pueblo Biff Twobirds, Snug fabricated an alien hoax to attract tourists to Roswell. Grange and Twobirds disguised themselves as aliens and appeared to emerge from a mine after being unearthed by miner Dusty McSharp, supposedly having been trapped under the rubble since the Roswell Incident.

Flo Grange unmasked

Melvin is revealed as one of the culprits.

Mystery Inc. first met Snug when he pretended to stop Grange and Twobirds from fighting over a vending space. Later, Snug appeared onstage to give a speech for the celebration, but he staged his own kidnapping at the hands of the alien. Mystery Inc. followed the alien's traces to the mines, where they discovered the spaceship. All three perpetrators were caught after Mystery Inc. posed as aliens themselves. When Grange and Twobirds were unmasked, Snug attempted to claim that they kidnapped him, but Grange exposed him for his involvement in the crime. The three perpetrators were handed over to authorities.
