When the Mystery Machine broke down, the gang was invited to stay at her bed-and-breakfast overnight. As they were being driven there by her husband Raul, they witnessed the kidnapping of her young daughter, Isabel. (Her older daughter, Lupe, had already been kidnapped a few days before).
Her son Thomas was determined to go after the vampire. She warned him not to go, fearing to lose him as well.
