Sergeant Inspector Lloyd Mbuku is Malawian undercover police officer. He had a pet monkey named Jacko.

Physical appearance[]

Mbuku is a heavyset African man with black hair, a goatee, and a straw hat with a red polka-dot ribbon. He wears a purple striped, long-sleeved shirt, red shorts, and yellow sandals.

Personality[]

While undercover, Mbuku posed as an unsuspecting T-shirt vendor, friendly to both Mystery Inc. and his monkey, Jacko. Daphne was surprised to see the police badge in his wallet, showing Mystery Inc. did not suspect him before finding the badge. However, Mystery Inc. continued to work with Mbuku after he admitted he was an undercover police officer. A conservationist like Joan Goodfew, Mbuku has a strong sense of environmental justice and travelled to the jungle to stop poachers from threatening the wildlife.

History[]

What's New, Scooby-Doo?[]

Season one[]

Working for the Malawian police force, Mbuku investigated the jungle where animal populations were rapidly decreasing. Undercover as a souvenir T-shirt salesman, he joined Mystery Inc.'s safari (along with Henry and Honey Hunsecker) as they travelled down the Ocuzi River, encountering jungle demons on the west side of the river. However, while riding the Capetown Katie, their captain, Robbie Kumbazi drove the ship off a waterfall, crashing. In the wreckage, Daphne found Mbuku's wallet containing his police badge, and Jacko took it away from her as if trying to hide it. Mbuku later revealed his true identity to Daphne and Velma. Still, they continued to work together to find the poached animals, exposing the Hunseckers as the mastermind poachers.

Appearances[]

Notes/trivia[]

  • His model is re-used for a background character in Scooby-Doo! Pirates Ahoy!. Whether this character was actually meant to be him or not remains unknown.
    • He was seen very little, but he would surely have been a victim of Mr. Mysterio. Also, he was wearing the same clothes, so either he was an undercover T-shirt salesman again or the outfit was recycled.
