Kitchen Frightmare is the tenth episode of season 1 of Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!

Premise

Shaggy & Scooby-Doo help out their favorite chef, whose new restaurant is troubled by the odd appearance of the Yeti.

Synopsis

At a restaurant called Cheese Volcano, a chef named Chazz Larkin is cutting cheese into the chapel of the Statue of Liberty when a man named Billy arrives late for work. Chazz expresses disappointment with a statue of a cheese man, which all the other workers notice. In the bathroom, Billy dresses up for work and states how the cheese man has been in a bad mood all week. Suddenly a cold breeze flows through the room and the lights go out. All the mirrors in the bathroom freeze-up and Billy looks into one of them and sees a strange figure behind him. He turns around and sees the figure who reveals itself as a Yeti.

Shaggy and Scooby take the gang to Cheese Volcano where Shaggy says that Chazz was their mentor. They worked with him when he was selling cheese as a food truck vendor. Daphne, on the other hand, tries to do stand-up comedy but has no success. The gang enters the restaurant where Shaggy introduces Chazz to them. Chazz acts as waiter, but accidentally spills some water on a man named Jack Howard, who gives his restaurant a one-star review. Chazz then goes into the kitchen where he makes all the meals himself. Shaggy asks Chazz what's wrong and where are his waiters. Chazz says that all his waiters quit because they were scared off by a Yeti, confusing the gang. The gang then looks outside then goes back in after taking about the Yeti with Chazz saying that he has his hands full with the grand opening and if he gets bad reviews his restaurant will close. The gang offers to help Chazz solve the mystery while Shaggy and Scooby agree to help Chazz as his waiters.

Chazz cuts some cheese into the shape of both a colosseum and a pyramid and then gives them to Shaggy and Scooby to deliver to the customers. Which is hard because their stomachs keep telling them to eat the food. They take the food while barely missing the Yeti who snatches at them. Meanwhile, Fred, Daphne, and Velma inspect the bathroom where the Yeti last attacked and find no clues. Fred wonders why the Yeti would attack a restaurant, with Velma explaining the Legend of the Yeti. The Abominable Snowman or the Yeti started when 20th-century British explorers encountered a creature in the Himalayan mountains. Many have tried to find proof of the snowman's existence but never found concrete evidence but then Velma states she has no idea where she's going with it because she can't think of a reason why a Yeti would attack the restaurant because there's no connection.

Meanwhile, Shaggy delivers cheese balls to some customers who give the restaurant a full four-star review. As Shaggy tells the customers what's on the menu his and Scooby's stomach both start making noises. They rush back into the kitchen and wash dishes while wishing they had something to eat. They find an unfinished olive and try to split it but it falls into the sink. Suddenly the lights go out and the room gets chilly the sink water freezes-up, the Yeti then appears behind Shaggy and Scooby.

The Yeti attacks and chases Shaggy and Scooby, until Fred, Daphne, and Velma enter the scene and are surprised by the Yeti's presence with Velma claiming that it still doesn't make sense. The Yeti chases the gang out of the restaurant and through the alleys. They soon run into a dead-end but Fred spots a ladder which they use to climb the building terrace with the Yeti following them. They then climb up the drainpipe but the Yeti breaks it and makes the gang fall onto the roof of the restaurant apartments. They go outside and see the coast clear then try to find clues. Daphne then finds a cane in the alley which Velma claims is a clue to explaining the Yeti. Chazz then arrives taking out the trash and claims nothing can explain the Yeti. Velma claims that there is an explanation for everything and theorizes that Chazz is using Tibetan spices for his recipes but Chazz denies it. Velma then claims that last year Chazz traveled to Nepal but he denies that to. Then out of desperation, Velma claims that monks used canes to climb up the mountain and the Yeti was there too, hurt his foot, and stole the cane from the monk. Until Velma groans in frustration on why the Yeti is haunting the restaurant and that there must be something that makes sense. Fred asks Velma if she's okay but Velma keeps going nuts about the Yeti.

Back in the Kitchen, Fred, Daphne, and Velma check the Freezer for clues about the Yeti. Daphne makes a funny joke which makes Fred laugh until they notice the melting butter. They state that even though the freezer is supposed to be cold it's actually warmer inside the freezer than outside freezer. They try to tell Velma about it but she states that it has nothing to do with a Yeti being in the restaurant. Chazz makes some cheese into several historical landmarks and sculptures. Shaggy and Scooby arrive telling them that Jack Howard is waiting for his cheese and that he's about to push the one-star button. Chazz says the food can't get plated any faster until one of the cooks shows up and claims Chazz won't let him help. Chazz refuses because of how bad his cheese sculptures are, the man then leaves while making dramatic threats. Chazz then gives the food to Shaggy and Scooby to deliver and adds his special cheese sauce. While delivering the food Saggy starts to hallucinate the food talking to him and accidentally sets Jack's table on fire. Jack then leaves claiming its a good thing he lives upstairs and gives the restaurant another one-star review. Shaggy and Scooby can no longer take it and rush to the kitchen with the food they dropped on the floor. They are about to it eat when the lights go out and the Yeti appears.

Shaggy and Scooby run away with the Yeti chasing them out of the restaurant. When he goes outside Shaggy and Scooby trick the Yeti by pretending to be valets asking for the Yeti's car. Scooby then fetches a small white car and gives it to the Yeti. They stuff the Yeti into the car and run away before the Yeti breaks it and chases after them. Meanwhile, Velma is on the computer looking at the restaurants record to find out anything about the Yeti. Velma discovers that every restaurant that opened in the building was closed down immediately under suspicious circumstances which relate to the Yeti. Velma claims that the restaurant is resting on an ancient yeti burial ground and laughs out in insanity. Shaggy and Scooby then arrive along with the Yeti. A chase scene occurs with the Yeti wrecking the kitchen and getting locked out of the restaurant. The Line Cook then appears and makes and sadistic comment about the cheese man. Chazz doesn't know what to do know but Shaggy says that food never gives up and always wins, Chazz agrees but with all the negative reviews he's been getting there's not going to be any food and that the Yeti is gonna shut down his restaurant. Velma then realizes that shutting down is the key to the mystery and that she's been worrying so much about why it's a Yeti she hasn't been concentrating on what it's been trying to do. Velma claims she has a plan to catch the Yeti and in order for it to work dinner must be served as planned. Chazz questions how with his kitchen on fire, but Shaggy states that Fred has a built-in Kitchen in the Mystery Machine and that he and Scooby have a massive supply of cheese in the van as well for emergencies. Fred then haves Daphne keep the customers from leaving.

Daphne goes on stage and performs stand-up comedy which entertains the customers while Fred and Velma set up a net. Outside the restaurant, Chazz has just finished his cheese volcano dish and presents it to the customers. All the customers try it out and love it so much that they all give the restaurant full four-star reviews. At first, Chazz is happy but then the lights go out and the restaurant becomes cold. The Yeti then appears and chases Shaggy and Scooby until Fred and Velma drop the net trapping him. But the Yeti breaks out and tries to attack Shaggy and Scooby until Fred and Velma through cheese at it causing it to run, slip on some ice, and get stuck in some cheese.

The police arrest the Yeti who is actually Mr. Howard. Jack Howard has lived above the restaurant space for decades but he never wanted a kitchen under his apartment, that's why he scared away every restaurant that ever tried to open here because the noise kept him up at night. Gaining access from the floor boards in his apartment, he diverted the cold from the freezer to create the Yeti's chilling effect which caused the power to go out during his attacks. He couldn't get in from the outside so he used his cane to prop a window open. Chazz praises that gang for their mystery-solving but still doesn't understand why Jack used a Yeti costume with Velma explaining that sometimes the answer is so simple that it's easily overlooked. According to her records, the first restaurant that shut down here served Tibetan food which is why Jack chose the Yeti costume and he's just been using it ever since. The police take Jack away and Chazz thanks the gang but points out how the Yeti left a big mess, he wonders if the gang knows how to get rid of cheese which Shaggy and Scooby do by eating it which confuses Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Chazz.

Quotes

Daphne: Yeah, well some things just don't make sense, like you ever notice when you solve a mystery and stop a ghost, the cops always say "Great work kids". Why does no one say "Yeah, and a horrible job officers". What, are people just waiting around for a van full of teens to show up before giving 911 a shot?
Fred: Hahahaha. That's very true.

Velma: (Obsessively trying to find the reason the restaurant is being attacked by a Yeti)
Alright. I've accessed City Hall's records, the minutes from the neighborhood council, and the last ten years of the newspaper's food section.
Daphne: You can't say she's not thorough. Or totally unhinged.

Daphne: If people yelled "Oh no, it's the Abominable Daphne" every time I walked into a room, I'd eat some mountain climbers too!
