Kent Nelson is the wearer of the helmet of Nabu, transforming him into Doctor Fate, who uses eldritch magic and lives in the Tower of Fate. Through use of time travel, he is also a member of the Justice Society of America in 1942.

Without the helmet of Nabu, Kent's powers are fairly limited, but with it he is one of the most powerful superhero sorcerers.

History[]
Early life[]
Kent received the possessed helmet of the three-hundred-year-old Egyptian mage Nabu.[2]
Scooby-Doo! Team-Up[]
Zatanna Zatara and Mystery Inc. went to see to for help in finding John Zatara, but Kent wasn't able to find him without his helmet which had been stolen. Zatanna and Mystery Inc. later found out that Mel Magnus had stolen it with several other magical icons, as well as kidnapping Zatara. After Magnus was defeated, Zatara planned on returning the helmet to Kent.
As Doctor Fate, Kent transported himself and the gang to 1942 to find out how the evil spirits from Pandora's Box were stopped the first time, where his association with the Justice Society.[1]
