Joe McGrath is a politician and mayoral candidate in Littlefield who looked to replace incumbent Perry Putnam.

Physical appearance[]

Joe McGrath is a middle-aged American man with gray hair with several light gray streaks. He wears a light brown jacket over a black vest, crimson bowtie, and a grey dress shirt. He also wears light brown pants and black shoes.

Personality[]

McGrath is contrasted to his opponent, Perry Putnam, who vetoed arts funding in Littlefield. Velma saw McGrath as someone who would provide more funding to the arts. However, because of the ghost attacking him, he became paranoid and less confident, appearing nervous during his campaign. In speaking, he became jittery, and he has accidentally caused damage while wielding scissors when startled. He was ultimately scared into withdrawing from the race, but after the ghost was captured, he rejoined the race, with Velma seeing him as a good candidate and endorsing him.

Season two[]

McGrath ran for mayor against the incumbent candidate, Perry Putnam. However, while attending the grand opening of a dog park, the ghost of the town's founder, Amos Littlefield, attacked him. Because of this, he withdrew from the mayoral race, explaining his reasons to Mystery Inc. at an art museum. Velma ran for mayor in his place, using her candidacy to lure the ghost into appearing. After Mystery Inc. exposed artist Violet Oberon as the culprit behind the ghost attacks, Velma withdrew from the race, endorsing McGrath to oppose Putnam.
