This article is about Joe, the Super Fan, from an episode of What's New, Scooby-Doo?. For other characters sharing the same name, see Joe (disambiguation).

Joe is a member of the Super Fans, supporters of the United States hockey team, along with Bob and Sam. He was suspected of posing as the Frozen Fiend, and, though he was proven innocent, Mystery Inc. exposed him as a secret supporter of the Swedish hockey team.

Physical appearance[]

Joe is a short, slim Caucasian adult male with straight brown hair and buckteeth. While on the rink, he is shirtless, with a capital letter 'S' painted on his torso with light blue paint. He also wears red sweatpants and a large wide-brimmed hat shaped like a hockey puck.

Personality[]

Joe initially appeared to be a fanatical supporter of the American hockey team along with the other Super Fans. His group's cheer would entail them shouting "U.S.A.!" in canon, with Joe shouting the letter "S." They appeared emotionally invested in the game and became visibly upset when the opposing team scored goals. However, Mystery Inc. found Joe was secretly a supporter of a different team, exposing him as a traitor within his group.

Season three[]

Mystery Inc. watched as the Super Fans cheered for the United States team playing against the Finnish team in the Moscow Invitational Hockey Tournament. However, when the Finnish team scored a goal, the Super Fans left the arena in anger, threatening action against the Finnish team. Just as they left, the Frozen Fiend, the supposed ghost of an exiled hockey player, appeared, terrorizing the event, so Mystery Inc. suspected their involvement in the attacks.

Fred and Daphne investigated the Super Fans' trailer for clues, where they found blue paint; the shade was lighter than the American team's colour, but was roughly the same colour as the monster's costume. One of the members, Sam, caught them, but cast suspicion on Joe and Bob, suspecting they planned to replace him.

The Super Fans were ultimately proven innocent of all crimes after Mystery Inc. instead incriminated figure skater Galina Korzhakov as the Frozen Fiend. However, Velma revealed that Joe was actually a superfan of the Swedish hockey team instead of the American team, and painting the big "S" in light blue (the same color as Sweden's flag) instead of white (to match the American flag) was his way of secretly cheering for the Swedish team.
