Dr. Joan Goodfew is a famous zoologist who travelled to Malawi to investigate its plummeting animal populations.

Physical appearance[]

Dr. Goodfew is an adult woman with short blonde hair and black eyes. She wears a beige fedora, purple-shaded glasses, a maroon handkerchief, a blue long sleeve collared shirt under a grayish-purple short-sleeved top, denim jeans, and black shoes.

Personality[]

As a zoologist, Goodfew is a conservationist who sought to investigate the rapidly-decreasing animal populations, but did not appreciate working with other people, such as Fred filming a documentary. She blamed the population decrease on human activity, which she called a "frown on the fraternization of man and beast." Fred noted her constantly stern demeanour, as she almost never smiled doing her work. However, when Mystery Inc. discovered a live poaching operation, Goodfew was willing to work with them and help them catch the poachers.

Season one[]

In response to the rapidly-decreasing animal populations in the Hatari Game Preserve in Malawi, Goodfew travelled to the reserve to investigate, tagging animals to track them. She started to find the tags discarded, suggesting humans were stealing them from their habitats. As she continued to investigate, she met Mystery Inc., who also arrived at the reserve to watch the animals. Though Fred was filming a documentary, Goodfew did not allow Fred to film her.

Later, after Mystery Inc. and crashed their boat in a waterfall, Goodfew was suspiciously present at the scene, claiming she followed the Ocuzi River to locate animals. Then, both Mystery Inc. and Goodfew found the cargo ship containing poached animals, where they were being hypnotized into acting as jungle demons. Goodfew assisted Mystery Inc. in freeing the animals, then exposing Henry and Honey Hunsecker as the mastermind poachers. Goodfew thanked Mystery Inc. for their help in stopping the poachers.
