He called in the gang to help because he was troubled by ghostly laughter at night. Following the suggestion of his valet, Elliot, he went out to sea in his yacht. Velma Dinkley, Shaggy Rogers, and Scooby-Doo went along, while Fred Jones and Daphne Blake remained to search Worth's penthouse. Someone took remote control of the yacht and delivered them to the site of a strange old inn. There, more frightening things happened with shifting rooms, until Mr. Worth was willing to pay the innkeeper a million dollars to make it stop. The gang figured out how it worked (an electromagnetic crane shifting modular rooms around) and stopped the plan. Elliot was a co-conspirator.
