Songs[]

Continuity[]

  • The Duckman last appeared in "Renn Scare".
  • What happened to Fred's "fear of widths"? Unlike in Mystery 101 he had no trouble running along the roof ridge to escape the vampire.

Notes/trivia[]

  • This was supposed to be duckman's only appearance.
  • Velma mentioned how she can't picture the gang solving mysteries in 47 years is a reference as to how old the franchise is.

Miscellaneous[]

  • Disguises:
    • Immediately after the opening credits, Shaggy and Scooby as scientists who have invented something with which they can rule the world
    • When explaining to Bumpy and Morly how to confuuse and control the vampire, they disguise as a singer and a pianist.
  • Daphne Du Jour: Playing trombone.

Cultural references[]

  • The title is a reference to the DreamWorks animated film How to Train Your Dragon.

Animation mistakes and/or technical glitches[]

  • When Daphne came to save Shaggy and Scooby from the zombie monster, a frame-by-frame shot shows her right sneaker back on her foot while she has the same sneaker in a hand, but in the next scene her sock foot is shown without the extra sneaker.

Inconsistencies/continuity errors and/or goofs/oddities[]

  • When Daphne says she is not feeling very "tromboney" because Shaggy and Scooby are leaving, she plays the trombone and shortens the slide, which should produce a higher note. But the note goes down.
  • When Morly and Bumpy are first trapped in the cage, it is quite obvious that Bumpy is small enough to just walk out between the bars.
  • The final gag of the episode shows everyone forgetting that Morly and Bumpy are still trapped in the cage, however this seems unlikely since they would have had to walk past the cage in order to get back up to the attic.

Quotes[]

Duckman: Yeah, Maurice, I'm in the wrong place.
Maurice: What?.
Duckman: I managed to find the only house in America without a kid named Braydon in it.

Shaggy: Like, that's it. We quit! No more monsters, mayhem, mysteries or any other "M" words.
Scooby-Doo: You ruined "M".

Fred: Are you guys OK?
Morly: I guess. But shouldn't we call the National Guard or something? I mean vampires? I can't sing and Bumpy can't fill out an evening gown.

Daphne: I can't believe Shaggy and Scooby are really gone.
Velma: Well, it's not as if they were legally bound to solve mysteries with us.
Fred: Nah. They wouldn't sign the contract.

Fred: Maybe this is it. We had a good run, the five us driving round solving mysteries for, well, it seems like forever.
Velma: Yeah. It had to stop at some point, right. I can't picture us still doing this in 47 years.

Shaggy: Scooby and I lived in complete terror and hunger, dreading every single moment of every single mystery we've ever been on. And did we ever quit?
Fred: Yes!
Shaggy: Oh, right.
Scooby-Doo: Well, we unquit!
Shaggy: Yes, Scoob and I were going to leave...
Scooby-Doo: But you're our ride.
Shaggy: Well, there is that. But see, we quit because we thought we were totally useless to you guys. When, in fact, we may be the most important members of this gang.
Scooby-Doo: Let's not get hysterical.
Shaggy: Think about it. We're the counter balance to (looks at Fred) "Gung-Ho", (looks at Velma) "Mind over brains" and (looks at Daphne) "tromboney".
Fred & Velma: Hey!
Daphne: Tromboney.
Shaggy: Without our fear and cowardice, without us begging, pleading to not go into scary places, they may forget that you should be scared of scary places! So no one's giving up. We're a team, and it's our job to stop that vampire so he never robs another person of their lives again!
