Hollywood Knights! is the seventeenth episode of season 1 of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?
Premise[]
Mystery Inc. meets George Takei while exploring the Hollywood Hills' most haunted historic building. While there, they also run into a ghostly knight.
Synopsis[]
In Hollywood Hills, actor George Takei gives a tour of the Darrington Estate, once belonging to movie mogul Sessel D. Darrington, but is attacked by a ghost knight. Invited to investigate the crime, Mystery Inc. appears to confront the ghost, but fail to capture it as it disappears, leaving behind its empty suit of armour. After Velma collects a loose hair as evidence, Takei introduces himself to Mystery Inc.
He explains that he had been attempting to mark the Darrington Estate as a historic location, its current owner is unknown. They encounter Takei's private detective, who had been hired to help identify the property's owner. Takei then brings Mystery Inc. to the medieval hall, where Darrington used to collect medieval antiques. Referring to a tapestry on the wall, Mystery Inc. discovers that the ghost is impersonating Duke Doombringer, a medieval knight known for his cruelty and barbarity.
As Mystery Inc. admires Takei's manly voice, they are interrupted by his gardener, Jimmy, who had been hired to maintain the property. As Jimmy hysterically warns them of the Doombringer's curse, Velma discovers the pictures they had taken of the ghost were mysteriously overexposed, making the ghost not visible. At that moment, a suit of armour comes to life and attacks Mystery Inc. It chases Shaggy, Scooby and Takei around the mansion, and each time it is destroyed another suit of armour comes to life.
They eventually escape the ghost in the kitchen to reunite with Fred, Velma and Daphne. There, they meet Sam Shehahn, a land developer attempting to obtain the property for himself. They also discover a mysterious woman hiding inside the kitchen's cupboards, who is identified as Darla Darrington, Sessel Darrington's long-lost daughter and the rightful owner the mansion. Venturing into the cupboards, they discover that Darla had been living in a hidden part of the mansion. Investigating the hidden areas, they find Cecil Darrington's office, where they find legal documents pertaining to the mansion's ownership.
Velma identifies them as forged documents, but the ghost suddenly appears bursting through a wall. After a brief chase, Mystery Inc. is cornered, and Takei decides to battle the ghost in a swordfight. Wielding a rapier, Takei disarms the ghost, but the ghost escapes, taking the forged documents and attempting to flee the mansion on the Mystery Machine. Darla decides to entrust Mystery Inc. with her father's car, allowing Mystery Inc. to chase after the ghost. After a road chase, Fred runs the Mystery Machine off the road and crashing through a billboard. The ghost is sent flying through the windshield and is suspended by his cape, captured.
The Mystery Machine is removed with the help of a crane, and the ghost is unmasked. The ghost turned out to be Jimmy, who planned to claim the mansion and sell it for millions. He forged the title deed to make himself the inheritor of the property. However, when he discovered Darla was inhabiting the mansion, he decided to create the ghost disguise to drive her out of the mansion. He used secret passages to simulate the suits of armour coming to life, rigged lighting to ruin photo evidence, and stuffed his armour with twine, thus explaining the "hair." After Jimmy is handed to authorities, Takei reveals that the mansion had been marked a historic location, before bidding farewell to Mystery Inc.
