Harold Ling is the owner of the Ling Toy Corporation in Hong Kong and father of Mei Ling. The Ling Ming Candy Ring, kept in one of his stores, was stolen by a dragon, and Ling accused one of his former employees, Louie Hong Fa, for the crime.
Physical appearance[]
Harold Ling is an elderly Hong Kong man balding on the top with black hair on the sides of his head and a goatee. He is old, looks tired or often miserable, and has eye bags. He also has a slender figure and appears to be a bit short. He wears a brownish-red sleeveless vest, a white button shirt, a grey/black bowtie, grey pants, and brown shoes.
Personality[]
Ling appeared to be a polite man who cares a lot about his business and customers. He was quite distraught about his business being broken into and his ring stolen, so he assisted Mystery Inc. in their investigations of the crime.
However, he also hastily cast suspicion on one of his former employees, Louie Hong Fa, accusing him of stealing the crime as revenge. Ling stated that Hong Fa "went loony," believing that his enormous toys were too dangerous to sell. Hong Fa, in turn, suspected Ling, believing Ling was attempting to frame him. Mystery Inc. found that Ling intended to sell Hong Fa's giant toys online, giving Ling a motive to frame Hong Fa for the crime so he could sell his ideas.
Furthermore, he had a controlling relationship with his daughter, Mei Ling. While Mei had ambitions of touring the world as an acrobat, Harold did not respect his daughter's wishes, forcing her to manage his store.
While Ling was dishonest about his views toward Hong Fa's toys, Mystery Inc. found him innocent, proving he is not willing to turn to crime to fulfill his goals.

Season three[]
Harold Ling owned the Ling Toy Company, which had three locations in Hong Kong. However, during a New Year parade, one of the parade dragons came to life, attacked the parade, and stole the Ling Ming Candy Ring on display at one of his stores. When Mystery Inc. visited Ling at his headquarters, Ling suspected one of his former employees, Louie Hong Fa, for the crime. Ling believed that Hong Fa stole the ring as an act of revenge for firing him. However, Ling justified firing Hong Fa, claiming that Hong Fa's toys, which grew to an enormous size, were too dangerous to sell.
Mystery Inc. later spoke with Hong Fa, who claimed Ling framed him for the crime. Searching Ling's sampan, they found a laptop proving that Ling had created a website to sell the giant toys online, despite previously claiming they were too dangerous to sell. As such, Mystery Inc. suspected Ling of framing Hong Fa so he could sell the giant toys.
Mystery Inc. also spoke with Ling's daughter, acrobat Mei Ling. Mei expressed her desires to tour the world with her acrobat group, but her father forced her to manage the store. As such, Mystery Inc. suspected Mei Ling of committing the crime to bankrupt her father's business so she could fulfill her ambitions.
However, Harold Ling, Hong Fa, and Mei Ling were all proven innocent after Mystery Inc. instead incriminated Mei Ling's partner, Wu, for the crime, as well as his acrobat group.
